100% this. We only paid approx £450k for him but that is irrelevant. Because of how he has developed and what he has achieved with us he is worth the £90m in the current market and we should hold out for as close to this as possible.

of  course it's irrelevant. totally agreed.

I mean if you bought a house in 1984 for £20k, and now it's worth £1m. Would you tell the estate agent, well I only bought it for £20k so it wouldn't be right to sell it for £1m... I'll take £50k for it.

No you ****ing wouldn't.

it depends on the owners principles vs monetary requirements. if man city don’t offer what they think he’s worth then can they afford to just run his contract down and hold him for two years.

me personally, if i was convinced he was worth 80m, i would insist on that, if i could afford to lose 80m and just not let him leave on principle. and that my friends is probably why i’m not a successful billionaire!

Think it's quite a tough call for him.

If he's feeling he wishes to stay put, because of the quality and potential

of the squad at the moment - he may have retracted his intentions to leave after in-house discussions with the management team etc.

But who would turn down any Champions League with European history?

There needs to be some form of clarification regarding this situation from any party involved in him as it could lead to more uncertainty.

Things could be more uncertain?.....you'll be telling me next his hair isn't really yellow.

You're talking about a Jekyll and Hyde personality. In Jekyll mode he's every bit the 'world-class' player and, as such is worth £90m - and potentially as effective as Coutinho. His technical ability isn't up for debate - because we've all seen what he's capable of. Sure, he will find a comfortable niche playing with ManCity's assembly of gifted individuals and will probably impress - for a time. But he has lacked the drive to perform at City - too often to state that he will perform to this or that level.

I don't feel 'shafted' in any way by the valuation/price - first of all, I'm not losing out financially in any way and, secondly, he's become a liability for City. There's been no player in City's history who's done so much to sabotage the good will felt for him.

Bang on!

It’s been quite interesting... there’s several different comments on various Facebook groups  from Algerian fans. They mention that whilst Mahrez is clearly the reason they have started following leicester, They have fallen in love with the club and will continue  to support Leicester when he has left. They say things like ‘ one man doesn’t make a team. They appear to be very genuine.

To put it in real terms - We bought a house for £20k in 1984, it's now worth £1m (according to us the owners)

We have been offered reportedly £600k for it, not £50k!

There are also no buyers at £1m and the only offer we have had recently, was £300k from an Italian.

The house doesn't want us anymore and has already sulked and gone on strike, so we really need to sell.

If we can get the bidder up a little to say £800k with add-ons or a player, then that would be a more satisfying deal and not than unrealistic.

... we also have some ex run down council flats to practically give away for free if anyone one is interested...

I'm lost for words. When has it become a real-estate expertise thread ?

Probably Islam Slimani fans.

I'll probably get shot down for this but I'd be happy with £60m for him.

At the end of the day, the fact he threw his toys out the pram in January massively decreased our leverage - as did, erm...the seeming lack of other clubs willing to pay any more for him!
