Deadline day

everton (a)

three days later

swansea (h)

imo, we should have won both anyway. Without RM, it was more difficult. The momentum was lost and we have never recovered. puel hasn’t been able to raise the players and losing to Chelsea in the cup was the final straw for them.

who is ultimately at fault is open to question but the manager has to manage and today’s tactics showed he isn’t ‘at the races’.

think the start was the mahrez trouble, however it has been coming with his crap selections. however todays team selection sealed his fate. how the hell do u pick that team and heres my reasons why.

we had no midfield ndidi and choudhury are both defensive midfielders, and at times i thought choudury was playing sweeper behind wes. how the hell can u attack when u have no midfielders going forwards.

gray is a complete waste of space i thought he was playing for palace because the only way he went was backwards.

chilwell is the worst defender should never play fullback again.

allbrighton at fullback is shit we lose so much not having him up the park, dragovic would do a much better job.

vardy seems to have given up he is just going through the motions, is not working hard any more and provides no hold up play at all.

mahrez has already left the building.

really think the owners will give him his marching orders, puel had a chance to secure a top 7 spot but through his crap selections and his failure to fix are leaking defense he will pay with his job.

The Man City quarter final when he picked a weakened side.

This is when a lot of the players wondered if he was up to it.

It all started to go wrong, when he did not field a full strength side against Man City in the Carabao cup.

Totally,we could have won that Cup and it would have saved his job, another strange decision!

All this will  happen again if we don't clear out the old players, who are looking after their own interests and not the clubs... namely Morgan , Simpson, Allbrighten, Smeichael, Mahrez, Huth...

Albrighton? Huth wtf

Albrighton is probably one suited to the passing game and Huth's been injured all season. But you don't include Fuchs or Vardy. So do you know something?

1-0 up against Swansea at the KP. Just before HT. Playing some lovely football. Leroy Fer goes down with a torn achilles. Lengthy break in play. They never switched on again when play restarted. Still haven't.

I remember that so clearly. We were battering them, Iheanacho somehow had one cleared off the line and then Leroy Fer ruined our season. Aside from the away game against a shocking West Brom team that's probably the last time we played really well

Mahrez debacle, pretty clearly.

Yep agreed, that was the beginning of the end. Lost the dressing room when he brought him back the game after. The whole situation was unfortunate and not of his doing, but I think that was the start of it.

Also it's clear that his personality just doesn't fit either the players or the fans. A lot of us said that his press conferences didn't matter (and they may not), but it's indicative of someone that struggles to motivate the largely British based squad and couldn't get the crowd behind him.

The 5-0 proves that the players downed tools on him and want him to go. Losing 8-0 to Palace combined across two games this season is simply shocking, even if they deserve a lot of credit for doing a number on us.

Like many fans, I am now frightened for next season. Our current form is relegation worthy and we are likely to lose key players again. The league is such that you can go from chasing Europe to looking like relegation fodder in just a few months.

Next appointment is crucial.

To me the man city game in the carabao cup was the start of Puel's undoing, we had a great chance to win a cup, but picking a under strength and losing to Chelsea in FA cup when tactically he slow to change

I think the little period of Palace at home, the league cup exit, and then Watford away was where it all gathered momentum.

Up until then we were playing beautiful football.

There is still far more to it than just Puel though. If it was just Puel, things would have looked terrible from the start, and they didnt.
