Dont Like the way this Forum is going.

Stand Back, and just enjoy another unknown suprised PL Team, enjoying their own achievement.

The English Football  forums are becoming modern slimey   ,snidey ,bitchy group, that is a Virus spreading

Through the footballing Side of the country.

WE ,this Forum unfortunately are slowly joining, the Dregs  of ' know all' ,self centered/opioninated

I am pretty sure i'm not the only one, but I'm kinda relieved we stuffed up/couldn't be arsed with Europe this time around - I suspect what might be an awkward upcoming season would have been complicated further...

This is a good point.

Its like our various championship campaigns where we just couldn't get it right. The time wasn't right until we actually did pull it off.

Do not want Europe to be a one off excursion. If we are managed properly, when it does occur, genuine opportunity for it to be a yearly aim.

I think that's where I was coming from - I'd rather we get into Europe with momentum and unity, rather than shithouse it, as we might have done this time around. I am sure most people on here would happily trade Europe this coming season (and I know it's hypothetical, and there are no guarantees this will happen, of course) if they knew that next season would be more positive and show growth.

This isnt a Rochdale or Bury qualifying for europe its Burnley a club with proud history and best supported by head of population i believe.A club now who have had a few years of massive prem money pumped in whos turnover

will be higher than most teams they come up against i wish them good luck

Haven't you noticed? We've been trying to avoid 7th since we beat the Foxes - Chelsea 1-2, Stoke 1-1, Brighton 0-0, Arsenal 0-5, Bournemouth 1-2. Two measly points!!!

You'd more or less secured it by then - you were quite rightly on the beach and hopefully preparing for a busy summer!

I think people concentrate too much on club history rather than actual performances in the here and now

Burnley are in the Europa League because they've been decent this season, not because their club name is Burnley

you absolute moron. hate it when fans say things like this. "hope we lose to so and so in the cup so we can concentrate on the league!!!!!!!!!" how can you possibly say with a straight face you'd take mid table mediocrity and no cup runs over fighting relegation and the possibility of a cup final. come july burnley are going to be away at some lithuanian team nobody's ever heard of in europa league qualifying and we're going to be playing port vale in pre season and you're "kinda relieved".

Absolutely vicious reaction, but i agree, if not quite as forcibly. Would have loved to go to outer Azerbaijan, Bosnia or Lithuania for a game in July.

Make sure it’s a garden one then mate - despite me thinking you’re a bit of a nob re your response  as I tend to agree with HPF, it’s not worth killing yourself over it  ..........

I didn't specify what kind of bridge it was pal. I may be a bit of a nob but I'd rather be that than "relieved" that we didn't qualify for europe so that we can "concentrate" on the league next season. are you content that we finished 7 points behind burnley after the position that we were in a few months ago? ended up getting done by everton who are nothing short of horrendous.

Everton - don’t care, irrelevant once we aren’t 7th

burnley - we should have been 7th - end of. But that went tits in February with our home form.

i have a wierd idea that we are going to recruit well over the summer and really have a go at top six next season. I can see some of the existing top 6 having issues next season under new management. just feel that a mid July start and Thursday night games will spoil our opportunities re top six. If several of the those have a tough season  then who says we couldn’t have a go at sneaking fourth??

assuming the top six remain uncatchable then we should be targeting  7th which should mean you can have your July start to the season in 2019.

deluded perhaps but I think next season is going to be our best chance for a fair while of achieving something to follow on from 15/16.  come back to me in mid August when the window shuts!

I think Burnley getting 7th has done us a favor, World Cup year, shortened transfer window, early Europa qualifiers, manager under pressure, would have been a nightmare.

We need a solid summer clearing out dead wood, improving the squad and then going again

honestly don’t see how any of this would’ve even been relevant when i was on my 8th lap of a lithuanian town square bollocko being chase my police with guns, we fu cked it and it’s an absolute joke that anyone is pretending they didn’t want to finish seventh.

id give away every transfer window for eternity to spend the next year travelling round absolute backwater countries in europe in nowt but a mid 90s leicester top and a pair of 4 euro gigs i bought off some fella on the street.

I was probably the worst on here for slagging them off, actually don’t mind them now. Probably the cricket club that did it, corking prematch spot

We were also fighting for 7th place when Mahrez went off on one.

Let's not be too hasty to jump on Puel's back.

Trying to pin the blame for our recent god awful form on Mahrez going off on one won't wash. Mahrez didn't choose the boring negative style of football Puel did. Believe me, if Puel is still in charge by next season there will be a veritable queue wanting to jump on his back when we are bottom of the league.

Still  happy we didn't make Europa league. Not in football terms but travel and enjoying the trip wise.some very dodgy destinations unfortunately. Vicious circle want to do well but Europa league is like 2 day old Christmas turkey just wouldn't seem the same after Madrid Seville and so on.but good luck to Burnley not raining on their achievement.

The only somewhat "dodgy" locations I can think of are Sevilla, Warsaw, Haifa, Milano, Bergamo and - most of all - Istanbul.

Even then there's no guarantee there'll be crowd troubles.

The rest in the Netherlands (Alkmaar, Arnhem, Utrecht), Germany (Leipzig), Denmark (Brøndby), Sweden (Stockholm), Italy (Firenze), France (Rennes/Nice/Bordeaux/St. Etienne), Portugal (Lisbon, Braga), Belgium (Zulte-Waregem, Lokeren) I can't see much issues on the horizon.

As an English supporter anywhere can now be dodgy but meant more in terms of being spoilt with Madrid Bruges Copenhagen etc.sevilla was a fantastic experience other than the police.

If we were playing in the Europa League next season, I‘d be over the moon being able to see places such as Firenze (Tuscany!), Nice (Côte d‘Azur, been there), Bordeaux (beautiful), Stockholm (been there), Lisbon (been there multiple times) or even Leipzig.

These are some fantastic places for Burnley fans to travel to, and if you behave, there‘s not much you are to be afraid of, really.

I'm not pinning the blame on Mahrez but pointing out the fact that our downturn in form came at the same time he decided to go off on one.

I'm not going to put all the blame on Puel either - for me certain players "downed tools" and recapturing form when we play high tempo football against teams that just sit back is never going to be an easy task.

What do the players want to achieve?  What is left for many of them to achieve?  What motivates them further?  They have all the luxuries they could possibly want, what drives them for more success?

Not a lot it seems - hence the clearout is needed.

That's not Puel's fault - he's worked with what he's got.

Fair enough good points. Let's hope you are right and he gets read of those that don't want to play for him and gets the right funding to get in the ones that will play for him.

But what do we want then? If the Europa league is an inconvenience we're basically saying we darent better win a cup nor finish 6-7th. Is it Champions League and winning the league or bust for us?
