Babylon Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 Not strictly Leicester, but what's going on is clear... He's signed for OH Leuven from Sheffield Wednesday. We bid a million + for him last season and have been after him for a while. Apparently going abroad now means less or no compo being paid for the player. He'll move to us at a later date no doubt. 4
Aleksz Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 (edited) Hadn't considered it from the compensation angle, makes a lot of sense. Edited 22 June 2018 by Aleksz

Not against any rules, but a little underhand! Edited 22 June 2018 by coolhandfox 12
Stevosevic Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 Haha brilliant I'd forgotten about this. Highly rated isn't he?

Suits Leicester, OH Leuven and the player as no doubt he'll negotiate more money. I bet the Sheff Wednesday fans are fuming. 1

Ironic really City fans unhappy that Man City want Mahrez on the cheap but don't have a issue with this. 10

Gerard Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 Just had a look, Wednesday fans aren't happy. A good day for Leicester getting Hirst for a no doubt reasonable fee after a year in Belgium and Musa scoring a worldie and possibly adding to his value in the World Cup. https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/topic/273048-hirst-gone/

We wouldn't be happy, but frankly it's tough isn't it. Dog eat dog.
moore_94 Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 Definitely going to join us in 6 months for an “undisclosed fee”
TheMightySystem Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 (edited) Don't know what they are complaining about, we offered what we viewed to be fair and they rejected asking for more, fair enough. Think he then asked for a raise as a prem club where interested in him (Not entierly sure so forgive me if wrong, I just know at some point he asked for a raise which was rejected). Then from what I can gather on their forum they barely played him last season in his last year of contract so he has no reason to stay. The only bit that could be seen as petty was moving to Leuven on a free so they get no money, but in the end Sheffield Wednesday could have had money for him last year and chose to risk just getting compensation and held him back a year by not playing him or letting him leave. Just read on their forum that apparently the manager excluded him from not just the first team but also the U23 and U18 teams as well so they really can't moan about him screwing the club out of a couple of million when they screwed him out of a year of important development. Edit: This quote here. "You're possibly right, I myself had issues with the decision to exclude GH from the u23 and u18 teams, but by screwing over the club like this (Pearson and Hirst Snr.) to avoid compo. being paid, they're not just getting at Chansiri, it's going to effect us, the ordinary fans, (in terms of monies available to the club for new players etc.) and for that I will never forgive either of those 2 for this. They can f*** right off." Edited 22 June 2018 by TheMightySystem 1

The details of a transfer are like a football match, trying to get the best result for your club. And on this occasion we beat Sheff Wed 8-0. Sell Mahrez for 65 million and we will have lost at least 5-0. Its all about getting the better deal.
Wolfox Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 Pretty shabby on our part…. The cr@p side of football enjoyed winding up my Wednesday supporting friend tbf His response “It's just the way it is. We'd do the same if we could. Good luck to him.” Doesn’t make it right though 2
