Guest Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 They refused to play him for a year and tried to ruin his career simply because he wouldn't sign a contract with them. They deserve it.
woollett the bullet Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 Got to feel for Wednesday, don't know what the compensation would have amouted to but I'm sure it would have been welcome revenue to a championship club / their academy. Makes it worse I suppose as he would have been " one of their own "
lgfualol Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 Shame the club we own is in a shit league. Hopefully it is good for his development if he is there a year.

Not against any rules, but a little underhand! Yes a bit like people bidding for our best player on transfer deadline day. It's a dog eat dog world my friend.

I hate to say it but in modern football, you need a "competitive edge" that you can exploit and benefit from. Chelsea have their ridiculous 50 players out on loan every season, Man City setup a subsidiary to sponsor their company when clearly the sponsors are owned by the club owners, PSG are (literally) owned by Qatar, and RB Leipzig got round ownership rules in Germany by calling their team "RassenBallsport Leipzig." Looks like we are joining the "somewhat dubious" club. It is against the spirit of the game, but the fact that we are already taking advantage of this situation just further cements by praise for our owners. They are smart guys and can spot an opportunity when it comes up. Probably won't pay dividends for a while, but I expect it will do at some point. Most likely getting some exciting African / South American players a Belgian passport to sell onto Leicester in the future. 1 1
v6rat Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 Looks like our Thai owners have been speaking to their Thai owners. 3
Lovejoy Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 Good work. Wolves have one of the top agents in world football as their "off the record" DOF. They're picking up the likes of Rui Patricio on a free. We're just exploiting circumstances and if it pissed a few off, who really cares!?

Livid Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 It feels a little off to me because we're not exactly destitute but he wanted away, they wouldn't listen to bids, he didn't want a new contract so they froze him out. He's not had much game time of late so if he had come here direct we would have more than likely loaned him to OH anyway.
Nickfosse Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 So a young academy player, frozen out by his home club, is given an opportunity to play football by a manager his ex professional Dad knows well. I’m struggling to see the great injustice here. 1

Everyone is assuming that he’s at Leuven so we don’t have to pay compensation. It seems just as likely to me that Pearson has used his connections with David Hirst to recruit his son to play for the team he manages. Edited 22 June 2018 by Nickfosse 1

Ironic really City fans unhappy that Man City want Mahrez on the cheap but don't have a issue with this. Who would've thought it? It's almost like favouritism or something. As if we, as Leicester City fans, always want the best outcome for our club. Bizarre.
baldeagle Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 Christ who cares the big clubs have been doing this type of stuff and worse for years . I’m pretty sure the player isn’t moaning or OH or the owners only people moaning are his old club fans they want to blame him when the club is to blame for treating him like shit .
Ted Maul Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 We've been in their position plenty of times over the years. It's football, it happens and if we want to compete at the top end of the league consistently for a long time, we're going to have to work every angle and find every source of talent and revenue available. Don't know a great deal about the lad but he seems highly rated and we (Leuven) will be paying sod all for him.
les-tah Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 This kids supposed to be very good scoring for fun For England from U17 to U20 6ft 3 and doesn’t even look like he’s grew out yet!
Scotch Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 End of the day, we either sign him, pay the compo and ship him out to Belgium or we have the Belgian mob sign him for free and keep him until he's ready.... It's a no brainer. It's not a slight on Wednesday, it's not the big bad EPL team taking advantage of the Championship team. It's business. It's the EPL team making the type of business calls that keep it an EPL team. Sore one to take for their fans though.
RutlanderFox Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 So are Leuven paying the compensation for him then? If so it’s all Vichai’s money either way. He should tear it up in the Belgian second division though, maybe about 30 goals next season!
FoxonMaui Posted 22 June 2018 Posted 22 June 2018 I love our owners, tough as nails when they need to be and smart as all heck. Long may they reign.

Popular Post Stadt Posted 23 June 2018 Popular Post Posted 23 June 2018 Shithouse behaviour, I for one welcome being a shithouse club. We're basically the club version of Uruguay now. More diving, more underhand transfer deals, more getting under the skin of everyone. 7
