Kinda agree with the earlier assertion that he's probably just wanted at Leuven. Think it's a bit tinfoil hat to just assume he's going to rock up here in January, especially given the compo would have been cheap anyway.

He's nowhere near good enough for the first team, we'd be loaning him out anyway, he's quite possibly never going to be good enough for our first team so why not send him off to make his professional debut with his dad's old mate?

It's got Pearson signing written all over it, probably nothing to do with us.

He'd have gone into the under 23's here, I don't think anyone seriously thinks he'd have been in the first team. We've wanted him for a couple of years by all accounts and we bid on him only last season. The Leuven deal is a win win for everyone.

Apart from Sheffield Wednesday.

Why would I care about them?

I kinda lost sympathy for Wednesday when they binned him off and froze him out because he didn't want a new contract.

That last comment was tongue in cheek.

it doesn't sit well with me although it's possible that circumstances make it more understandable.

To me there's a lot of truth in the old saying, be nice to people on your way up because you'll meet the same people on your way down again.

Not sure they shed any tears when we went into admin or got relegated to league one :D

I have no doubt whatsoever that he's been signed to get some game time and develop ready for a future with lcfc.

It looks pretty obvious to me that this is the case.

He could stay in Belgium and then move elsewhere in one or two years but you would think that will only be the case if he doesn't develop into being a Premier League standard player.  I think he'll stay in Belgium at least for a year as I'd imagine the standard of the Belgium second tier is similar to our 3rd or 4th tier. If he looks the player we hope him to be then he might be our next No9, we have a good track record of signing Sheff Wednesday rejects as our main striker. :)

I'm all for this kind of shithousery. Much like in any other kind of business, you've gotta be a bit of a d*ck to reach that next level.

Not sure screwing Sheff Wed out of a couple of million will take us to the next level lol

Not this alone no, but if we continue to take what we want at any means necessary yes. We'll be getting at least an extra £10 million out of the Mahrez transfer as well because we're being an arrogant arse.

Hhhhhhmmmm. In 2yrs when we pay 10/15m. Ffs give it up our owners did not buy into a club to make it bust.

They are more likely to use our money to make these big than us.

Shithouse behaviour, I for one welcome being a shithouse club. We're basically the club version of Uruguay now. More diving, more underhand transfer deals, more getting under the skin of everyone.

All very well....so long as you are not one of those who scream and shout when other 'bigger' clubs do similar things to us.

Definitely, for example, don't throw your toys out the pram and punish your employees for not wanting to extend their contract.

All this moral stuff is a bit rich    Rules and regulations are flaunted by virtually every Professional Club (and Country) in various forms.  It's the way things are done. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

As STF states above, LCFC have done nothing wrong 'as it stands'.   Let a contract run down and this is what happens?

"As long as it doesn't affect me, who gives a s***!".   No wonder the world is such a mess with that type of view.

Its morally wrong and that's all that counts with me. Im not responsible for other peoples morals or how they behave BUT I am accountable for my own morals and behaviour and this doesn't sit well....whether its legal or not.  And I suspect it wont be legal for too much longer when the PL reliase the loophole that has been created.

As I said, people are responsible for their own moral standards and ethical behaviours and you shouldn't lower your own standards to mirror the poor behaviour of others.  That's a one-way street to nowhere when that happens.

I don't agree with what SWFC did...but I don't agree with what we have done either which puts us pretty much in the same bracket.....and that's not a good thing for me!  Just my own personal opinion of why ethical behaviour in football is becoming so s***

Kudos to you for your conviction but you don't actually know that we have done anything dodgy here.... If he gets shipped over for a minimal fee in Jan of next summer then this will be worth revisiting but for now isn't it morally wrong in its own right to condemn people based on an assumption?

This.

Is if really that unbelievable that his dad's mate has convinced him to come and try playing at a level, with a good coach, where he can probably play first team football every week?

Even if the assumption is correct, a successful business man is going to do whatever it takes to make sure his ventures succeed. Every majorly successful person in the world is ruthless.

I believe that this is a FIFA reg that governs compensation & realistically any European club could have recognized the opportunity to turn a profit on Hirst. SWFC assumed they would get at least what Leicester had offered (2 mil) in compensation & wanted to fvck Hirst over just little bit more. Now the lad will get to play first team football for a decent manager & OH Leuven will get the opportunity to make money down the road. All perfectly legal & above board ! Sheffield didn't see all the options and lost out because of that.
