Spain suffer the same fate as their predecessors in 2002 when they lost to the hosts on the back of some very dodgy decisions. Same thing has happened today because they clearly should have had a penalty.

 

Not that I feel sorry for a team full of shameless cheats themselves who barely had a shot in 120 minutes. They were too negative in possession and didn’t deserve to stay in the tournament.

Proper shit housed their way to penalties but De Gea makes Logan look like Gordon Banks. Only down side would be to have had it on ITV with Hoddle commentating and beautiful passing Spain knocked out by dogged Russia with around 30% possession. Have Spain got a manager to sack

More than 75% possession, seven times more passes than Russia, fvcking tiki-taka football back and forth, unattractive going forward, ponderous, slow, painful to watch.

Never a penalty in a million years, they would have missed it anyway

People are calling Russia negative here but Spain were just as negative with better players, it doesn’t make them positive just because they have the ball a lot when they just go sideways at a slow tempo.

 

This is why I’m desperate for us to sack Puel, that sort of performance is what we are seeing every week.
