Looks much better playing through the middle

He originally played down the centre. Not sure when he started playing on the left. I guess Barnsley. Puel had him in the number 10 role briefly.

Had a look on the WBAUnoffical forum. They aren't keen on Barnes but then they aren't keen on anyone in their team.

Depends which comments you read; some say he was their best player and wish he was their players, others that he was inconsistent and a few just slating the whole team.

Really glad we dodged Hegazi, looks absolutely dreadful

I instead looked here http://westbrom.com/forum/index.php?board=150.0

One guy said he was their best player, the others seem to say he was quiet (same thing Barnsley fans said), a fair few saying he's defensively weak, and a fair few saying he's not a winger since he keeps moving into the centre.

There's a video on YouTube comparing him to Lampard. And Lampard was often anonymous but popped up with the goods. I think Puel's right: may best suit a number ten role.

Think I read the top one with a few saying he was decent, Will try and find them again.

Agree with that, he looked a lot more comfortable as a number 10 and able to just drift around, rather than being stuck on the wing

Im sure No 10 is his natural/preferred position as he always played 10 when he was younger and for the U18s and U23s teams.

Not quite sure how/when he suddenly started being used as a wide player as the drifting No 10 role seemed to perfectly suit his style of play ...?
