We clearly have a remit to sell before we buy which massively messes you up when the people you want to sell are actually shite and on mega money.

It’s all shite. We are doomed I tell you. The relegation plug hole will suck us in no doubt. Or we’ll win the league. It is the way of FT.

Like most others, I thought there would be a creative player lined up for when Mahrez signed for Man City, seems we we wrong.

At present we have only spent the money from the Mahrez sale, and no strong links to any incoming players.

Have the owners changed their mind about Puel spending large sums of money? Are they holding money back for the January transfer window for a new manager should Puel continue with his dull boring football?

Time will tell. I am still hoping we do get a couple of signings in before the window closes.

Newcastle,WHam have repeated, their seasonal collection of foreign Imports,Everton also jumping in!!

Wolves as newcomers, have bitten Into the Apple, believing by picking up New guys ,therefore any investment,is

an improvment, that will keep Relegation from the door....

New signings does raise the adrenalin, excitement and terraces expectations...but

Is our squad stacking up,as poorer cousins, are we as Bad ,as many on Here will have us

Believe..... has it become a must,to join the bandwagon, and throw out 10s of Millions every  season.

Or is it a matter of tweeking, what you have, and just add the 1-2,unknown suprise packages....

As someone else alluded to I do wonder whether we are struggling to attract the level of player we require to improve our starting 11. We see ourselves as challenging the top 6 and being the best of the rest but I wonder whether the football world at large really shares that opinion.

Or have we just missed out on our main target for one reason or another, which is rather more likely.

Of course they don't, to get the cream to an unfashionable club you either have to get them before they are cream or spend stupid money. I predict things will get a bit easier once the training ground and ground expansion start (presuming we still have money to spend after that), because we're then a level above half the league in terms of appeal and we look like an ambitious club.

If I was the club I'd aim to get the two things completed at the same time and then go for a standout signing. The whole feel about the club on the outside would change overnight.

Agreed.

Brutal reality is that the best we can get is either a big name star a few years past their best or a promising young player using us as a stepping stone to greater things.

It always entertains me that some people seem to think Puel is out there, purse in hand, desperately negotiating for players.

As Babylon says they probably just haven't been able to get one or two people they want in. But there is a semi legit argument that the 200 loanees coming back this summer are a part of the consideration too since Puel might actually want to use a couple of them. Mendy being the obvious one. Ultimately there's no point buying people for the sake of it when we have a massive squad anyway. Obviously go for some you've picked out but if you can't get them (yet) for whatever reason, don't just buy any old shite to placate the baying mob.

Someone posted on twitter this morning that Puel was in an interview with ssn and said our squad is to big to buy players, we have to sell to buy. This thread needs closing.

New signing soon then!

My only gripe with that is, don't buy a sodding reserve keeper before you replace Mahrez then!

I completely agree but why we have Diabette, Gray, Albrighton, Musa, Kapustka all in the first team when we don't even know if were playing wingers I can completely understand why some have to go.

It was a really positive start, and then once Mahrez left it went south... which is really bizarre because we have had his fee to aid transfers.... I just hope we haven’t spent ages trying to tie Maguire down to a pointless new deal when he doesn’t even have a release clause (at least I think he doesn’t) instead of negotiating with new targets.....

Could explain our willingness to loan our players all of a sudden rather than instigating a permanent transfer elsewhere.

No there is still room in wages.

So do you think we will make any more signings then? thanks

There is work to do but we haven’t done to bad. As others have said we need to shift some players out to free up wages.
