Just a discussion to break up the monotony of no signings. Players who we were heavily linked to sign but never materialised. A couple in my memory are Jong tae sae. Correct me if I'm wrong but he was dubbed the North Korean Rooney at the time?

and gabriel barbosa tve Brazilian striker who ended up at inter Milan.

  • Barbosa is back in Brazil and considered to have been one of the biggest flops in recent Inter Milan history.
  • Luan is still in Brazil though considered one of the best players in their league. He's been linked with moves to Europe and China but it's never materialized whereas other players at the same club have moved. (Arthur went to Barcelona just recently). It's only a guess but I think it's because he is considered rather slow for a 25 year old.
  • Ousmane Dembele smashed it in Germany at Dortmund and transferred to Barcelona for an insane fee, though has failed to shine there, and Barca have signed a potential replacement in Malcom.
  • Troy Deeney is still at Watford but has dropped off the radar a fair bit.
  • Dragovic we eventually got on loan but sent him back even though he played well.
  • Yuki Nagatomo is at Galatasaray.
  • The North Korean fella I have no idea about.

That's about all I can remember.

The South Korean guy was Jong Tae Sae who the bald chap in floods of tears during his sides national anthem at the 2010 World Cup. Was linked when we were under Sven and he was playing at Bochum. Moved to Köln in Germany and then went back to the far east in South Korea/Japan.

All this talk on World Cup buys and that would've been just a classic example had it materialised lol

Funnily enough, four months later we've signed one (Evans) and a half (Hirst) of the players on that list.

What happened to that South American bloke called Charles that decided to go to Bayer Leverkusan ?  We signed Kante instead.

Snapped both his legs in his first game and sat out for a whole season I think lol

Aranguiz?

Famously broke his leg after signing for Leverkusen and claimed that "it's not all about the money but playing for a club that can achieve something." Leicester City won the Premier League title that year :giggle:

Since then has been a first team player in defensive midfield who is a solid player for them. Leverkusen were unlucky not to finish in the top 4 this season only losing out on goal difference. Much of that was down to Leon Bailey, another player who we were looking at when we signed Ndidi from Genk. Bailey has absolutely smashed the Bundesliga and hasn't just been good but consistently good with most Leverkusen fans expecting him to move this window. Morgan had been telling the club to sign him for years apparently after seeing him in the Jamaica setup, so that one has to go down as a gaffe.

Another one was Thomas Delaney who played against us for FC Copenhagen in the Champions League. Kasper had told the club they should go and get him. Since then he went to Werder Bremen and just signed for Dortmund.

The huge black dude who sold me an actual bag of lawn grass cuttings for 25 dollars in a backstreet in Nassau, the Bahamas, in 1988.

Fvcking rolling papers cost me about 5 bucks too. All in all, not my best day.
