Finnegan Posted 30 July 2018 Posted 30 July 2018 Oh and then how we'll actually line up: Kasper Ricardo, Maguire, Evans, Chilwell Diabate, Silva, Ndidi, Albrighton Iheanacho, Vardy Subs: Ward (12m), Yerry Mina (40m), Maddison (24m), Slimani (30m), Alcacer (40m), Musa (18m), Okazaki (priceless) For everything else, there's Shinji. 2

Maguire Evans Ricardo Chillwell Iborra N'didi Silva Maddison Paco Vardy Again, if these moves were going to take place you'd think we'd have seen evidence of them. No reason they cant be drilling this shape in training and/or behind closed door matches. Would make sense trying Gray up front for a couple games as well. However still think 4-2-3-1 is odds on for most games. 1

Kasper Pereirra Maguire Evans Chilwell Ndidi Iborra Silva Maddison Nacho/paco Vardy One of the better XI's posted so far, on paper that looks like a really good side. I still think Albrighton has something to contribute to the team but other than that it fits everyone in pretty well. 1
Finnegan Posted 30 July 2018 Posted 30 July 2018 (edited) 442 diamond is ****ing hideous. Zero creativity. I'm not watching that shit all year. He'll be sacked by October if it's his actual plan. (it won't be btw, zero chance he drops width) Edited 30 July 2018 by Finnegan
The_77 Posted 30 July 2018 Posted 30 July 2018 He’s the Alca’, he’s the Alca’, he’s the Alca’, Alcácer! We’re the alkies, we’re the alkies, we’re the alkies over here! 1

Not like that horrific diamond Pearson tried a couple of times. 4

(it won't be btw, zero chance he drops width) Diamond formation works well on the counter, and can still be varied with a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1, depending on how versatile your midfielders on either flank and how versatile your attacker(s) are.

Morgan's dropped off massively in the past two years, not even saying thats because he was great the season we won it but because he was better than these last two seasons our first year back in the Prem - stats link I've stood by him the entire time but I think it's obvious with Evans coming in, we're phasing the great man out

HoustonFox Posted 30 July 2018 Posted 30 July 2018 (edited) People moaning we are looking at a top quality striker/forward is nuts. It’s called improving, people. I really don’t think that Vardy followed by Nacho, Shinji and Slim (Leo and Musa too) will cut it. A 41212 with two decent dudes up top (one of who can create his own goals, or link the play for others, in this fella) with Maddison behind will create plenty. Add to that two full backs who can join in attacks, and I think we’ll see a lot more chances. For the footy hipsters ( @Finnegan / @Ric Flair ) maybe we will play 4222 a la Brazil in 94? Two attacking full backs, one destroyer and one metronome in the middle, two roaming attacking midfielders, a linker / poacher and a lethal finisher? Schmeichel Maguire Evans Ricardo Chilwell Ndidi Silva Maddison Gray Alcacer Vardy Edited 30 July 2018 by HoustonFox

We’d get mullered using a diamond in the Premier League. Its a very weak formation owing to its lack of available width and the big worry with even trying this with the personnel you’ve highlighted is the lack of mobility and athleticism of two of the key midfield three who would need to shift and fill in gaps on the flanks.

It's gonna be either a bog standard 442 or the new normal 4231/451/4411 which are all basically the same tactic. My previous formation post was a joke to satisfy Ric's obsession with 5atb. The sad reality is we're still planning to play wingers, there isn't any brilliant plan afoot to play without them, there's no clever reason we haven't signed any, we've just ****ed up replacing Riyad and we're running with Gray, Albrighton and Diabate. 1

Amen to that brother, this is why I'm not interested in anymore strikers. Alcacer can suck a dick than come here if we ain't bringing anyone else in out wide, it's pointless. 1 1
