We aren't penniless, if there's problems it's wages and I don't see how a loan deal gets around this unless we can front the wages in to a loan fee and Barca pay the wages still.

I'd like to think a bit more optimistically, maybe instead of us struggling financially it's the player who wants the loan deal to see how he fairs in the Premier League before moving somewhere permanent? :dunno:

and likewise, maybe a chance for us to see how he fits in without committing?

Could be loads of reasons why we're looking at loan, player doesn't want to commit or lose the huge wages he might be on at barca, Barca might not want to sell yet or are asking for a big fee, if they're asking for a ridiculous loan fee then we shouldn't pay it.

This makes absolutely no sense?

His recent appearances have been on the right wing. Replacement for Mahrez

We need a winger and a centre back way more. Very concerning how slowly our recruitment team work. As a premier league club aiming for top 6, there should never be a panic station signing. Slimani in particular smacks of it. We should be spending the whole year scouting and just going for those targets. Sell or release players that are deadweight. Honestly getting so pi**ed off now

There is no way at all we can’t afford to pay wages or fees. The most likely outcomes are either we are playing hardball and don’t want to pay certain asking prices, which is something we have done before, or financial fair play. In terms of finances, we’re probably the most secure club in the PL.

If he's coming to play as part of forward three (where he played for Barcelona recently) then a loan deal sounds good. Rather than invest with a huge fee, loan him with an option to buy. If it doesn't work out, sure we lose the loan fee and wages but that is better than what we've done with Musa / Mendy / Slimani all of whom have cost us over 60M and none of them are first team regulars.

If you look at fulham getting Seri, Schurrle and on the verge of Mawson, why are we not going for strong, experienced signings? B team fodder

I think the signings of maddison, evans and pereira more than match the three above in terms of quality and experience. Furthermore I wouldn't call a player who was the next big thing at valencia and failed to displace luis suarez at barcelona 'b team fodder'. Not to mention the fact that our squad was far superior to fulhams before this transfer window.

When we played our best stuff last season in the 4-2-3-1 there was a fair amount of fluidity amongst the front four. Would make sense on that front, good technically and can fill in most of those positions and rotate with the other 2/3. Loan is fairly risk free as well, hopefully a fixed fee in there if it all works out.

Does really highlight how we need to shift 6/7 players off the bloody books though.

I think if this comes off it would be a great deal, I'd be happy with a loan as it's minimal risk! Only have to look at Swansea and Renato Sanches, bet they are glad that wasn't a buy.

He's a striker. If he came here he'd play up front with Vardy.

You contradict yourself within two sentences. Well done.

But he can play right too, so his versatility will be useful. He can be used in a 4 3 3, 4 4 2 and 3 5 2

I'm guessing because we have breached FFP once we have to be more careful now as we could leave ourselves open to a points deduction for strike two??

No, that was the EFL and not the premier league.

Yeah definitely but he's a striker that can play on the right as opposed to being completely comfortable there.

Loan deals make perfect sense at this moment, something went tits up in our hunt for certain replacements. If you aren't 100% sure on the people you can get, a loan is better as you don't end up lumbered with someone not good enough for 4 years.

Take the loan and aim to buy your main targets in another window.

We need someone from somewhere to play in some form of attacking role.

We have one striker who regularly finds the net, there are question marks against all the others. Our most creative player has left.

Gerrimin!  :schmike:

Because he would play in games where they were struggling to break sides down.

They'd move Messi into a more central position and get him out on the wing with Suarez up front.

He's a striker.
