Odd quote given the value of both squads.

it’s his agenda - nothing to do with facts. Given he pretty well slated his boss in post match stuff last night he must be on thin ice once results go against them (which they will as they looked terrible)

we learn little last night given united’s tactical approach of sitting back on their lead, except that our team aren’t likely to crumble in the face of adversity. Going one down at OT after 2 minus isn’t too wonderful an experience - look at the age of our starting eleven - only kasper, wes and silva over 25 and two players making prem league debuts. We are in good hands if  we can be patient. Wolves will be a very informative fixture.

Silva was just as good as Wilf to me, both gave the ball away at times and didn’t Silva have the most touches for us and 2nd most on the pitch??

As last season plenty of possession little to show for it. Not convinced by Puel. Just like I said it would end in tears when Ranieri was appointed and I was proved right in the end.

A confused emoji just isn’t good enough to cover unless you’re being sacrastic  .......

I agree we were great for an hour, but my concern is if Vardy gets injured where are the goals coming from, because that kid from Man City is just not good enough, gets his feet mixed up all the time and has no footballing brain in my opinion.

playing up top fairly isolated at OT isn’t an easy gig. Vardy didn’t make that much impression when he came on.

so what is the take away?

madison and ricardo did really well.

silva is anonymous in the pl - look at the athletic strength of pogba and fred... wilf has it... but silva ran all over and yet contributed little. (I expect Ibora and ndidi to be our cms)

Ghezel look like he has the right first touch - he will push diabate and grey - grey in particular needs to be striving for a better level... - right now I would play diabate and ghezel

I like amarty - but I am not sure he is even a head of simpson

Nacho as a lone striker was Ok and might be more effective against poorer opposition - but I wish we had a better alternative to vardy

Wes has a reasonable game - so having two new CBs mean we should have a much better defence this year - I hope they get the set piece defending sorted.

Chilwell need to sit and watch how his effort led to no end product and to sort out his decisionmaking - he is a great players - but he needs to address this asap

Puel need sot sort out his best 11 quickly so that we get some consistancy - the next 10 games are key for his survival

I would add to that is Puel taking off Maddison when Vardy came on was weird. I was at game so not sure if it was a knock?

As bad as Chilwell was at crossing the lack of any movement when he had the ball was shocking

Thought we played really well last night.

Most all of the players were above average.

Maddison looked outstanding.

Perreira, Chilwell, Gray, Kasper were great

Ndidi was everywhere most of the time, outplayed Pogba when he marked him.

Iheanacho and Maguire and Morgan were good.

Amartey made a couple of mistakes but wasn't too bad.

For me only Silva had a sub-standard game - gave the ball away far too much, which was disappointing.

For the subs, Iborra was no better than silva, Rachid showed glimpses of talent and Vardy is simply a scoring machine.

We were the better team in the first half by far and matched them in the second. Everyone is going on about Pogba but Maddison was on a far higher level and Ndidi played him off the park when matched up. I'm really looking forward to Maddison linking with Vards.

Poor result, good performance, great potential.

its never a penalty in a million years , the lad is lightweight and frankly not good enough.

I'm guessing you don't like Iheanacho (the kid from Man City)? I think you'll be proven wrong with a slight personnel and formation change. Also 're the penalty, it's never a penalty in a million years is as accurate as him being lightweight, shirt pulled and leg across him nowhere near the ball, sadly the angle for the ref made it impossible to give.... opinions eh.

I am proud of Puel and the players. Going to a place like Old Trafford and being in the game and sometimes dominating the game.

Thought Chilwell had his best game for ages, just a shame Gray was in front of him as I thought Gray was ineffective really. Maddison looked good, in the holes, and I was impressed with Perrira.

Iheanacho looked a bit light.

Just a shame, after all the excitement and all the build up, getting into Old Trafford and the game is ruined within 2 minutes. It did look like he lent into the ball but we wouldn't have got that decision there. Gonna watch motd later tonight because it's difficult to judge at the game and you have no replays.

Most seem to think it was because he'd been booked and he and Fred were at it.

Odd one to come out with when his 3 man midfield cost about much as our entire starting line up and subs (I work out ca. 150m for the players that made the pitch for us last night; Pogba 90m, Fred 55m, Periera youth signing and no compensation I can find details for). Or does anything before this summer not count?

come off it he looked our most lively player going forward, granted he came unstuck at times but to say he was ineffective is ridiculous.

I’ll say “frustrating” then. Chilwell rarely had options at times.

Some people in the match thread were more embarrassing than Amartey's error. Honestly, some people on here are shockingly embarrassing.

You've just worked that one out? :-)

ive learnt to accept that a lot of people just vent frustration on foxestalk and other social media sites in the immediacy of the moment and tbf who hasn't done that verbally at the game.....it somehow comes across differently in the written word

Do you think it's still odd when you include the fact that he is a weapons grade bellend into your considerations?

I'd have preferred his quote if it acknowledged we have won the league more recently than them as the barameter of the quality of the squads. He's an arsehole.

didnt he always get a cut or knock or something against Lille that forced him off, could still be carrying a slight after effect of that, though it did seem strange to take him off tbh with Vardy coming on, but i think we'll see both start next weekend

Well no. That's entirely the answer. Man's digging at the board for not letting him spend even more, despite Pogba and Lukaku I think being the two most expensive players in this division, which he's bought the last two summers
