I was speaking to my mate at the game about Amartey being off the pace, he pointed out that penalty aside they didn't really create much down that side until amartey was subbed (after there was the one through ball that Pereira had bring their player down and the shaw goal) he was playing devils advocate but he got me thinking a little.

From what I seen pogba was nothing special but seems to be getting a lot of praise for last night. Like someone mentioned already would be happy to slip under the radar again I think we could have a good season again this year.

Claude Puel:

  • “It was a good game, a good performance from my team. Certainly we lacked more energy in the second half. That's normal for the first game. We conceded an early goal, it was harsh. It was not a good result but it's a good performance. We gave our best, it was a difficult team against a great team. We deserved a different result.”

  • ”We showed good control, good football, a lot of chances. We had chances to score in the first half. It was more difficult in the second half without the energy. I am happy with the squad and the transfer window. We need to continue and build some good momentum.”

  • ”We deserved a minimum of a draw.

  • ”It was tough for Harry Maguire, he gave his best and had a good game. I am happy with the performance to make this game in this condition, it's encouraging for the future."

Disagree with this. We created a good number of chances from open playing. Especially considering we were away at Old Trafford. The Kelechi chance in the first half, the Maddison strike which De Gea saved well and the Gray chance in the second half were all good quality chances which would’ve gone in against lesser opposition.

I dont think its it’s fair to criticise the team for not carving open Man U, away every time we ventured into their half.

Well that's a load of bullshit.

We created a decent amount last night from open play, WTF were you watching?

My point is not we didn't create chance, but we still find it difficult to create chances playing though the middle, similar to last season.

But it wasn’t. Those chances I listed were not created by last ditch pumps into the box. In fact class the Vardy chance and goal in that too. They came about from proper build up play using our playmaker in the middle of the park. There were also two or three through balls that created half chances that may have led to something if it wasn’t for Bailly. We showed enough from open play not to warrant that criticism but it is an opinion based game.

Not to fully disagree, but I did see more intent to work through the middle yesterday - particularly from Maddison. We had a number of shots barely blocked that came from center-right or center-left of the keeper.

That's why i don't bother to watch it .

Nor sky tbh. They are selling global brand as are the newspapers. Tbf to them it sells, but it's not servicing real football supporters, those who aren't glory hunters and follow the other 86 teams in the league

Was quite impressed overall.

Big plus was Maddison, he looks a very good player, we'll look far better with a fully fit Vardy stretching the opposition defence as well. The only real criticism was the passing again at times, Silva and Ndidi the main culprits.

If Ricardo isn't going to play there right back is clearly an issue that needs sorting. Surely he will though eventually.

It's weird with the passing, we seem to be able to do 40 yard pings left and right, but often screw up a simple 5 yard pass on the ground.

Have to say old Jose coming out with utter shit like that is just plain laughable. It is beyond parody. He knows Man Utd have spent bucket loads and is trying to deflect from the obvious - he’s washed up and they’re going to win no trophies. Melt.

Fans love "Schadenfreude".  Jose's.  career even now,has and is brillant....

Like all top managers, they all come out with some aching BS,or have their

Down periods.  They will also come into  Periods where their star wanes partially/totally.

Jose has been around longer than most, and I Reckon he will have a few more years

Irritating and aggravating many Fans and pundits, including home Club Fans.....

I dont, either hate or  love, these Characters of their sport. For me they all need to sell themselves,

their wards,or just the Moment....Its part of the all around craiq.

I am though happy, they exsist......it takes all Sorts, all types and some do tend to nerve...so what!

I couldnt rumble up a storm because of it....

This Manutd is still good enough, for top 4. like Arsenal I would love to see then struggle to

get in the top 10, but it wont Happen.... They just can afford stronger better quality Fring players,

and as the early season lengthens, than they get stronger and sharper have more quality  as a team on a higher level than....Teams like ourselves.

Neutral Fans, hope occasionally that a Leicester,Burnley or ..Wolves,and even a Spurs, can upset the real big

Applecart....

Jose is More content, than he lets on,and will Carry on with a smile his conveyer belt of BS...

Gud on 'im and his like....

Sticks n stones...is how I take all words in our journey of life....be happy..:frantics:..:yahoo:...

Too short for the...:@.. even the....:dunno:

It's very bizarre, Silva is capable of some wonderful long range passing but every game seems to misplace two or three balls that are so simple

Overall I thought it was an encouraging performance, thought we deserved a draw.

Chilwell and Gray got themselves into some good positions, but their final ball is still very poor.

I'm also getting frustrated with Silva, keeps giving the ball away and keeping the ball far too long.

But happy overall and I think we should (touch wood) beat Wolves next week.

Overall the performance was good and lots of promise.  Obviously we need more time to judge the team either way but encouraging stuff.  I also thought Gray was the hardest working player on the pitch.  So many people like to call him lazy and accuse him of having a bad attitude so I think it is only fair to mention when he works so hard for the team.  X

Sometimes chances are few for any but the top teams but,  we did have chances. De gea made a couple of inspired saves that on another day or a different goalkeeper could have gone in and of course Vardy scored. As always had they gone in .... Did United have that many more chances though? Their first was unlucky and their second had a touch of fortune about it. Overall a draw would have been a fair result.

Early days with players to come in who will also need a bit of time to gel. Let's see how it's going in about 12 games time.
