Hi guys,

Huddersfield fan here who's travelling down for our upcoming game in hope rather than expectation!

Just wondering where's best to park on a match day?

I parked last season at the rugby ground and it took over an hour to get back to M1!

Cheers

I'm a Leicester fan who travels down from Pontefract so will be doing a similar drive to you!

There are a few streets around the Narborough Road that you can drop on if you are early enough.

If not and park in a car park around the ground if you wait till about half 5 and the traffic usually isn't too bad :)

This is your best bet. Most of the side streets give you at 15 ish minute walk to the ground and makes it relatively easy to get back to the M1 from there

I use an App called JustPark , its good for parking anywhere and big venues. You can park at some big sites for a good price. Worth a look on days out where parking costs a bit.

Shakespeare street. Get there before 1pm and you should have no trouble to park. There are loads of side streets to park. 15 min walk to the stadium. The good thing is you are walking in the direction of the M1 when heading back to your car. So you walk past all the traffic. There is a sports ground next to Shakespeare street where a lot of people park. The traffic leaving that car park causes congestion. So if you park near the stadium it tends to be that when you get past the car park the traffic flows better.

Therefore parking on Shakespeare street is the best thing as you are past a major point of congestion. I park there every home game and I would say it takes 15 mins to walk to the car and about 10-15 mins from there to get to the M1. I drive past the junction for the M1 on my way home so I know this is pretty accurate.

Also at the end of Shakespeare Street is a newsagent and a cash machine so also quite handy.

Hope this helps

It's a long walk to the Prince of punjab though.

Alternatively to the other suggestions use the A50 out of Leicester, you should comfortably make the North bound M1 in 30 mins, maybe 45 on a match day, but will be nearly 15 miles further up the M1 when you join. Much better use of your time.

Watch out for the average speed cameras between the A46 junction and markfield tho.

Around the back of the Leicester Royal Infirmary there are 3 or 4 independent car parks, I always go there :)

Or Just park in the new multi story at the royal

Whoareyaaa's advice makes the best sense for the M1. Is possible to get nearer with a bit of thought but defo park that side of the ground. 15 minute walk and miss the bulk of traffic on the way home.

Stay in Huddersfield. Once you've visited our lovely city you'll never want to go back. Your loss will be our gain. lol

Get there early then. Gets very full at visiting times and isn't cheap.

There's the rowing club which I think is about 8 pounds. Probably have to get there pretty early though. Other than that anywhere else it's gonna be a 15/20 minute walk.

10 quid now mate. But you're battling to get out and then stuck in the traffic of cars and people.

Does saffron lane cp have parking bays? I like tigers cos is bay free and you can leave plenty of space between your car and neighbouring cars. Less likely to get knocks and dints on my lambo.

No but they have a guy that directs you into a spot so you can pretty much leave as much room as you like, I’ve never had anyone park to close to me to be fair and I’ve been parking their for the last 4/5 years
