I know which one I’d rather listen to ...

The difference is obviously in tone, but those suggesting his English isn't understandable are wrong.

As someone who is pretty adept at butchering French, I'm not about to be critical of anyone's language capabilities. Tbh, I find it in equal measure difficult and frustrating to express myself in a foreign tongue as I would in my own.  I can get by, sure, (in fact, more than that) but nuance, subtlety and even humour are still beyond me.

I do hold respect for players/managers that move from country to country and learn the native language. It can't be easy going into a new country and trying to pick up the language on the job.

It always annoyed me how much of Man City don't bother to learn English and the club helps them avoid it.

I’d rather listen to puel. Raneiri kept saying the same thing week after week about working harder or how next week we will we better but we just got worse and worse and it became a little bit embarrassing. Interviews with managers are rubbish anyway, get asked the same questions every week.

I’ll give that jug eared prat Lineker his due here ...   he did master the language of the country he played in ...   including Japanese.

I’m not attacking either of them ...   I think they are both excellent managers and I admire and respect them equally ...    I think the gist of this is that CP can sound slightly monotone and boring.   Does it bother me ...   not a fookin bit ! ...   :)

It's fine when you're winning, but if we were losing every week he'd have got ripped to shreds with the shite he came out with.

As someone whose played centre back, communication is huge. In a lot of cases you are the largest set of eyes on the pitch as you can see it all.

Its a bit different try to communicate at speed whilst concentrating than coaching on the sidelines with the support of coaching staff.

As for Claude’s interviews he’s just defaulting to standard sound bites as every other manager does. Just as Dyche or Hughes or various other managers have their regular vocabulary so does Puel

At the end was of the day it doesn’t really matter about his interviews, or his tone ...  the real question for me is can he motivate his team before and during the match and get his message across ...   if anyone knows, please share.

Geoff Peters managing another dig at Puel .

Yep. It gets tiresome.

Anyone suggesting they can't understand what he's saying is either stupid or flat out lying. His English is absolutely fine, he expresses himself perfectly well as shown in last nights interview.

Sure he's a tad monatone and wastes a lot of words in his answers that aren't really necessary, but as far as understanding what he's saying then there are no issues.

Well said. Fully agree.

It's as if people would rather have a performing monkey in charge and be more entertained as opposed to someone who's not that but still trying his best to get good results with a promising squad.

For those, they can have people like Martin Allen and Ian Holloway back in charge. Their results were superb...

No, that is unfair IMO.

During the title run in CR spoke brilliantly.  It's as if he knew exactly what to say at the right time.

Personally I was bag of nerves but listening to Claudio calmed me down.  I thought, yes, we can do this.  Obviously, I am just a fan, but imagine how his calm demeanour and his knowing just the right thing to say must have helped the players.

As for Puel, his interviews are dull.  Who cares?

Not sure. Luckily both managers aren’t rated on their interviews otherwise they wouldn’t have lasted five minuets.

Claudio was absolutely great to listen to in his interviews and you are spot on he knew exactly what to say in our title winning season, he was literally perfect from minute one of the season in that regard.

Puel is just simply dreadful at interviews

I think I'd respect it more if people just said (for example) 'I don't like him because he's French', instead of the oblique digs dressed up as valid criticism.

Calm down, Ted. No one here is asking for funny soundbites or buffoonery.

It would just be nice to have an improved form of communication from the manager to the fans via the media.

Does it matter? Doing decent interviews won't get us 3 points. Or would you rather sit there pulling off Wagner while we are at the bottom of the league.

Pack in slating the club and the staff because you clearly don't have the bottle to say anything about his communication while doing interviews.

The constant puel bashing from yourself is getting tiresome especially seeing as though you have an opportunity to say things in person yet you opt in for the sly back stab on a forum.

Puel's English is no worse than Ranieri's.

It's probably better. Puel's a bit monotone as people say but Ranieri's grammar and range of vocabulary were poor for someone who had lived and managed here for so long.

What rubbish.

Did anyone dislike Kante because he was French?

Nalis, Arphexad, Knockeart?

Stupid and offensive assumption.

You don't query the stupid part then?

You're entitled to accuse me of stupidity, even if it's based an a false assumption of what you thought my point was. I was just more interested in who you thought I'd offended, and why you decided to defend them. Anyway, I've amended slightly because I'll take responsibility for being less than clear.
