We aren't going to win every home game against similar clubs.

Of course, it's sport. But why does that mean fans should lower their expectations? Should they expect less than what the team is reasonably capable of?

Cash is okay if it's spent well. And in recent times we haven't spent well. Just because we've got £30m to chuck at a player doesn't mean it'll work. The correct people need to be in place too and do I think we have that? No.

Ah, so you agree that with the budget expectations should be high but you don't believe we have the back room staff to deliver. Therefore you don't expect much and are not upset when we don't perform. Fair enough, I can't argue you see things that way. But you seem to be exhorting other fans to think like you - when they see things differently. You say we are a mid-table club and should accept and be happy with our lot. Others have a different view. There are no facts here.

Bit easier to take now, although I always remember that infamous loss to Watford in the playoffs, I rang in sick the next day and didn't speak to anyone for a good few days. Amazing how far we've come!

I know  a few supporters who take the losses better.

Possible reasons?

-we know that we have experienced something amazing so it is now difficult to get too angry.

-whatever the results, it will never be that exciting again.

-we are very much a mid-table side now so a few losses here and there don't make much difference.

-or maybe it is the current manager, supporters are indifferent about him and the style of play, some are losing interest.

this is me. From the minute the final whistle blew v Athletico It changed for me. I can be more philosophical about losing and don't get as excited when we score/win. I still jump around. I still hug my mates but deep down its not quite the same it probably never will be.

We will never be that high again and after you have shagged hedi klum for 1 perfect night its hard to get that excited about a quickie with your wife after shes been chasing the kids round all day.

this right now is as good as it gets for a city fan, cup runs and consistent top half but It just doesn't excite me like it should.

There's a lyric from a James song 'If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor' and it about sums it up for me.

Still get upset, the expectations are different though now, I actually think we should be challenging for seventh place - there is a realisation though that we have had the best season we will ever see Leicester City achieve.

The only thing I really get angry about now is if we are comfortably midtable and go out of a cup because we haven't played our best team.

It depends really. On the one hand I think it's ridiculous that we're losing 5-0 at Crystal Palace only a couple of years after winning the league, but at the same time it shows just how funny 2016 really was.

There is a general lull around the fanbase though. I don't know what would get rid of it.

Relegation and a bounce back up.

We're 10th in the league which I suppose really, isn't bad given our history (although I do think winning the league does kind of change expectations somewhat) but nobody seems to enjoy it.

We've taken the footballing drug and I think it'd have to get awful for us to properly enjoy things again. We win away at Southampton, two goals in front of our away end from 1-0 down and half the people are still moaning.

It's shit.

That's a good point. It seems to escape everybody that it only takes one really bad summer and you can be in a relegation scrap. Southampton were in the top half, sneaking in to Europe twice and nearly went down last year because of some piss-poor decision making and losing star players. We're at a stage in which a home defeat to anyone outside the top 6 would result in boos at full time. I know some are aimed at the ref, but I bet some were aimed at Puel too.

We are who we are but with quality international players,  didn`t the owners come in and say they had a 5 year plan and want to see us finish in the top 6 in five years time? We only won the title cus the bigger teams wasn't picking up points and we were!

It was a one off and we will never see that happen again in our lifetimes but this season I expect better things to come just as long as he plays one of his new cb`s instead of Morgan ffs...

....I believe when the 4 year project was mooted that was 4 years ago and the aim was to reach the top four by this time. Well we wrecked that timescale by winning the league. The plan should have us aiming and pushing for top 4 but with all the changes this has set us back.

People ask the question why do our posters feel so entitled. The short answer is our owners want us to be up there, they believe that's where we should be and who am I to argue?

the actual league doesn’t really matter anymore, that’s the issue. the only way to get people to give much of a shit and enjoy it once again is to actually try and win a cup or to get back into europe and take it seriously.

its been an issue for decades, really. it’s just not one we’ve ever had to experience before. all the middling clubs fight to win promotion, fight to stay up and then basically wait to go back down, and only enjoy any season in between if they do one of the above.

im talking us in the late 90s, 2 cups and two trips in europe. teams like pompey, swansea, birmingham and wigan, nobody knows where they finished in the leagues when they won the cups they won. half of them even went down but nobody cares. boro and fulham reaching europa league finals. they’re the type of seasons we’ve got to aim for now because we’re never going to do well enough in the league to please anyone and we’re too good to go down.

I never said people should be "happy" with being mid-table, I said people should lower their expectations. There seems to be a big percentage of our fanbase who want the manager out - a manager who's average position with us is 8th and is the first manager to not have us in a relegation battle in this league since we got promoted. Should these people lower their expectations? I think so.

Yes you're right but judge us on the season not now. Was it not said we had more points after 7 games than when we won the league. He's building a side grow up let it happen it's 8 games not a season.

Our biggest problem was winning the league. One of the reasons I hate this place.

No you`re wrong, the report said that we had the same points tally now after 7 games in which was the same amount as when we won the title!

What you on about grow up? Why don't you shut the **** up cus you don't know what ya going on about!!

Do you really think the owners will give him the season to be judged on? I think you will find the answer is no....

Do you think we will win many games if he keeps on playing Wes Morgan? Again I think you might find the answer is again no.

The owners what success and my point was whilst Puel keeps on playing Wes we will continue to lose games and struggle cus he simply isn't good enough, back up at best from now on...

ffs sent off twice with 8 games played and you want me to judge it over a season..

I certainly take defeats better now than 10-15 years ago but also wins back then were much rarer and the club seemed to be mired in mediocrity on and off the pitch.

I think my enthusiasm for the game has diminished over the years and that is probably a good thing, no point getting down all week about a result.

I'll never be truely at peace with our club until I see us parading the FA Cup around Wembley.

I sat on the Holte End terrace and cried in '74.... and '82 wasn't much better. My uncle went to every FA Cup final defeat.

I'll probably hang up my scarf when we finally win it (and we will) but until then the fire will rage in my belly.

I find it hard to have much passion about Leicester since the title win and CL campaign. I know it's bad, but that's how I feel.

It's like we completed football or something and now it all feels a bit pointless... Which is ridiculous because we are still experiencing the club's greatest ever era.

Whenever we lose i feel more disappointed now because it feels to me that we missed our chance to establish ourselves as a massive club in the summer of 2016. I always think about what could have been.

Exactly this

I know those two seasons are gone, and we take the piss out of forest for living in the past...

But how can anyone celebrate a goal against Huddersfield in the same manner they did Albrighton’s goal against Sevilla?

I’m not proud of feeling like it, but I can’t help it

Exactly. It's a shame because to clubs it's all about finishing as high as possible, given the prize money. I think most fans would rather finish 15th and win the cup, than 8th and not. They're not mutually exclusive though which is what annoys me.

I heard 3 different people say that we're a better team than Everton before and after the game on Saturday. The only reason we have these high expectations is because we won the league, but we're still expected to beat these teams. Everton have spent obscene money and invariably have a better squad than us. We've just lost Mahrez and are still expected by our fanbase to somehow finish 7th.

Like Dan says, it's a weird fanbase mindset that would probably only be solved by relegation to bring us down a peg. Not that anybody wants that.

All losses hurt.  City are in my blood and I can't change that.

I can however see the bigger picture.  I've spent most of my life seeing City in a relegation scrap from the top tier or a promotion battle from the second tier.  We've rarely been in a comfortable position.  Now I see a squad with talent, in a club that has grown from the one I was used to to one whose aspirations are higher.  For the first time in many years we look like we belong in the Premier League and wouldn't have too much trouble staying there.  Plus the owners appear to want to take us higher.

Every big club was a small club at some time in its history.  I don't buy the attitude that 'we are Leicester, we're doomed to mediocrity'.  The ambition is more improvement.  It may be a bumpy road but we shouldn't be afraid to take it with some of the reverses on the way.

The title win changed everything for me, after that nothing will ever be the same.  Still dream of winning the fa cup because for all the years supporting the team it was the only realistic option .

Defeat still hurts but the big picture is with this manager and these players we are top ten mediocrity which means winning and.........losing:angry:

Im cool with it. Nice and safe in the big money league and theres always the hope of europa league and cup glory:whistle:
