Seems Barclay, has sorted himself out,and put himself forward for another England shout.

Good luck to the lad!!

Where is Danny Drinkwater's  star gone..

.2 big moves...1 riding high!!

In all fairness to Drinkwater, Barkley suits Sarri's idea of a midfielder. He's fast, gets forward and has an eye for goal. Still a long way to go to prove he's good enough in my book, but Drinkwater is none of those things, the shoe just does not fit.

The simple answer is Barkley is a much better player.

Well no, the simple answer is they're different players.

Barkley is much better going forward but I'd trust Drinkwater's defensive contributions more.

Barkley is the more valuable player, I'll give you that.

A fit Drinkwater would be our best midfielder now, shame he's a crock.

I take it you're joking?

No, Ndidi is limited on the ball, Mendy is ok but not good enough long term whilst Silva and Iborra have been underwhelming. Drinky (was for us at least) defensively solid, could pass and could move with the ball, things the others can pretty much only do one of.

IMO, Maddison and Iborra are both far better passers than DD. I would struggle to find him a spot on the bench.

Maddison is but can’t play in a holding pair. Iborra gives the ball away needlessly even with short passes.

Nididi has years on him already and looks a solid midfileder and Mendy is a similar type of player but I wouldnt say Drinkwater was better probably on par.

Why did they buy Drinkwater ? ...     did they want to get some  of our key players so we didn’t have the audacity to win the league again ?? ...     why else buy him and never give him a game ? ...

I can't believe people on here legitimately think Mendy, Iborra or Silva are "better" players than Drinkwater. Even more remarkable when none of the three mentioned have managed to hold down a place here while the other won a promotion and a Premier League.

Drinkwater + Ndidi would be an upgrade on any other combination, assuming Wilf has his spot nailed. Mendy (blinder against Cardiff) has been unfortunate and has looked steady enough this season but he doesn't shift the ball or take risks quite as much as Drinkwater did. I think it's part of the issue with us seeming to take an age in transition for 80% of games.

Wholeheartedly agree, Drinkwater was good at carrying the ball forwards whereas none of our midfielders are

Yeah – Iborra had a little spell not long after Claude arrived where he was exceptional, like he knew exactly what someone was going to do an age before the ball even got to him, loads of deft touches and turns which could put us on the front foot in the blink of an eye – I think in that sense he offers something different (as well as a goal threat) but as mentioned plenty in the thread, he gives the ball away a fair whack and has a tendency to look a bit laborious. Maybe comes with flittering in and out of the side and troubles with injuries, maybe the pace of the league. I don't dislike Silva but for me he's essentially a smaller, sloppier-in-possession version of Vicente. Mendy is really good at doing the neat and tidy stuff and certainly looks an asset, would definitely be very handy in a midfield three but in a two we are crying out for a bit more drive. I think you could argue even he is adjusting to the pace of the league though, he hasn't played much football for two years.

They can all count their times with us as a little unfortunate, really. None are bad players as such and there are clubs in the league that would love to pick one of the three to play alongside Wilf, but none have really shone with us.

Hopefully Mendy can keep growing, I think it's been pretty unanimous on here that he was a monster against Cardiff.

Simple as they dont/didn't seem to scout and actually watch players.

Most unbiased Leicester fans knew he wasnt good enough for Chelsea, mad that he went for so much money.
