Spare a thought for Soyuncu

It's just occurred to me that he made a pretty tidy debut last week, and it got lost (understandably) in what followed. Then he wasn't in the 16 today. 

 

I wonder what he's going through.

I would not agree it was a tidy debut, I was very worried he would get sent off. Apparently his language skills are poor, I think he was omitted for a safer option in Evans.

Probably the same as the rest as his teammates, though perhaps feeling it less than those who have been here the longest and knew Vichai the best.

 

I would hope game time is the least of his concerns at the minute, especially at the start of his Leicester City career.

 

He did look tidy last week and the more he bonds with the team off the pitch the better for the future. This week will only make that bond stronger, which will help him prosper when he does get some game time.

He looked good and I'd have him over Evans in the squad going forward, but I think you can't not have club captain Wes in the starting line up given the occasion and Evans being more experienced probably was in better stead to come on if some players couldn't cope with it

I too thought he might get sent off, but he also did some excellent defensive work, and had a good accurate pass and eye for the game. I think Harry is likely to miss next week, and I would like to see him start with Evans or Morgan, preferably the former.

Reminds me of David Luiz.

Knows what to do most of the time, but can be seen as a liability in terms of too much aggression/fouling.

Just before he got subbed off I thought he was going to do something stupid and get sent off. By all accounts, he's unable to communicate other than by gestures. Performed pretty poorly for the u23s and isn't great in training apparently. He and Benny are known as Dumb and Dumber. 

 

I'm sure it will all come given time, a huge jump for him. But he's got a long way to go before he should be ousting Wes, Harry, Evans and even Benkovic on his return.

Can’t complain about today as we got a win. 

 

He was solid last week until we really started to push more forward for the equaliser then he looked exposed and was getting out muscled when one on one left alone at the back.

Disagree he looked tidy. It seemed his bad communication was responsible for the headed goal as well.

Best game I've seen Evans play for us today. Looked solid. His decision was justified. Unfortunately, the better you get, the more quality you have to leave out of your squad. £40m worth of players with Silva and Soyuncu alone with both of them probably easily making at least the squad for most Premier League squads, with top 6 of last year being the exception.

My point stands...anyway, the original thread was about how it must have felt to debut and then have that trauma - I hope it doesn't derail him a la the Silva debacle - that's what I was driving at.

Remembrance fixture and the first match back at home since the tragedy, so Morgan is pretty much a guaranteed starter. Evans had a good game today, even came close to scoring, and obviously has more experience of the league so I imagine he'll get the second CB spot.

 

It's through no fault of his own as he looked decent last week, but Soyuncu will miss out for a bit longer. He'll make the bench if Harry is injured though.

 

 

Wouldn't be surprised if we do a swap with Celtic to bring back Benkovic in January and send them CS while he's still learning the language.

Sending Soyuncu to Glasgow isn't gonna help his English very much

I think the picking of Westminster had something perhaps more to do with the occasion and I for one didn't mind one bit. He's been our captain for Vichai and all we achieved under him. In a very emotional atmosphere I would think it more likely that Wes would be able to cope than a potentially hot headed young man. Admittedly only from the radio, it did sound that Evans had a good game also which again was perhaps down to experience. Soyuncu could become an excellent player for us and had a reasonable debut but yesterday, because of the difficult occasion I think Puel sent the right team out.

That is my worry.

I thought he had a good debut, very strong in defence and decent going forward.I personally prefer him to Evans, who i didnt think had a horrible game yesterday considering the circumstances, but he is so slooooow. 

I would prefer whoever partners Harry to have pace and neither Evans or Wes fit into that bracket.
