Amartey signs new contract till 2022

This is top work. The bloke is out injured after snapping his ankle in two so I can fully understand why we want to tie him to a longer contract.

Announce an extension for Matty James.

Do you not think they've discussed the issue with those in charge of he recuperation? If they think it's a relatively easy thing to come back from, if Amartey is happy to stay and play second fiddle at right back, then I'm not massively sure what the issue is.

People applaud the owners for the spirit they helped create at the club and then scoff or question them when looking after young players, who are also assets worth more with several years on their contract than just one.

And Wes until 2024.

Don't dislike Amartey but think he is a bit of a nothing player really. Not shit but hasn't exactly done much to deserve a new contract.

So you'd just run the contract down and let him walk for free? If we ever want to make money back on players, then it makes sense to keep them under a contract. He's absolutely fine as right back cover.

People can slag him off, but i think we've been a weaker squad without him. He gives us that bit of flexibility

Exactly this, his ankle probably is pretty flexible at the minute.

He's probably happy to sign for relatively low wages. If the medical team are happy to give the go ahead then it's fine for squad cover. We signed Maddison while he was injured, but only after 10 medicals that showed he was recovering well. Dan must have had at least 20 medicals.

He's a utility player, every squad needs one. Massive injury crises at CM or CB and he can drop in, or he can play RB if Ricardo is out. As long as we aren't paying him an idiotic sum, why are people complaining? It's not like he's here for another five years, it's a 2 1/2 year contract.
