fuchsntf Posted 28 July 2019 Posted 28 July 2019 Great race, great top 6..all did well including the minor drivers who lost out to Vettel, they still managed their best PTS positions. Bottas just hit that one water patch.. Hamilton is a racer, but he's so far ahead,It will hurt him,but he knows deep down it's still his season... For ALL fans, for Verstappens future, for that 1-2 mysterious races per season. For Vettel to show he still has it... Formular 1,the fans won today...!!! On racing terms, the other top 5 are still a long way away from Mercedes. Then come Ferrari....Red Bull,Verstappen still adrift, but today their day!! Has a neutral, though I have always liked Hamilton,Bottas,Vettel,Verstappen, a really good afternoon for the Also-rans!!
isaidno Posted 28 July 2019 Posted 28 July 2019 Great performance from Stroll. Gets a lot of stick but he actually races well. Just needs to sort his qualifying speed.

People complain about this era of mercedes and Hamilton dominance, but the 4 years on the spin that Vettel was world champ, him and Red Bull were totally dominant, and his team mate barely challenged him. Now he hasn't got that dominant car under him his races are full if mistakes. It's not just the Schumacher pressure, it's as soon as he's in a car that's not flying off into the distance and he might actually have to compete for wins he goes to pot. Hamilton was finally under a bit of pressure today and binned it into the wall TWICE.
Asha Posted 28 July 2019 Posted 28 July 2019 The obvious hero today is Kvyat. What a guy. There's no way anyone would have ever thought he'd ever get another podium after being released from Toro Rosso two years ago.

I was raining, it was unique situation. Vettel, time after time has buckled under pressure, but no we'll take this one instance as proof

Considering you like your little Vettel paragraph each time he doesn't win, you should put your hands up when Hamilton has an absolute stinker.

The only reason I'm frequently on here ripping into Vettel everytime he ****s up compared to you ripping Hamilton is because Vettel ****s up considerably more than Hamilton.
Asha Posted 28 July 2019 Posted 28 July 2019 Apart from perhaps one of the Baku races, that was easily the best race in about 7 years.

Hilarious isn't it, I bet he had a paragraph already prepared, but alas King Seb back where he belongs
stix Posted 28 July 2019 Author Posted 28 July 2019 I like Hamilton, because he’s British mainly but he’s an excellent racing driver as well. I’ve just watched his post race interview, what a miserable sulky fvcker. I get that he must be pissed off with how everything went, but come on mate, sounded like a prepubescent teenager with his sarky comments. And i do also get that some journos really do ask some stupid stupid questions, that deserve the responses they get, but she didn’t ask anything that stupid, she was trying to encourage him to try and be a bit more positive. Whiney twat

Anyone can race from the front every week with a fast car. Vettel himself had a year or two where the car was superior. Schumacher near the end of his Ferrari career had the superior car. Hamilton is becoming stale as he has very little to contend with, this will probably do him and Mercedes good. Let's hope the next few years yield a few more teams being able to challenge at the top.

These are the type of races where when you're in a crap car, you can gamble and it can really pay off. Today, just that happened for those two. That's their season goals all achieved and beyond in one race.

The Bear Posted 28 July 2019 Posted 28 July 2019 Hamilton's always been a mardy git whenever things have gone wrong.

stix Posted 28 July 2019 Author Posted 28 July 2019 Both Alfa driver get 10 second stop go penalty for breaching clutch regulations at the start. Meaning Grojean, Magnussen, Hamilton & Kubica all move up. Hamilton extending his 23 race points scoring streak & giving Williams their first point of the season.
isaidno Posted 28 July 2019 Posted 28 July 2019 Surely that's a record for Kubica. 9 years between points finishes.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 28 July 2019 Posted 28 July 2019 Russell must be fuming , beats Bobby all season then final finishes behind him and he brings home the points
UniFox21 Posted 28 July 2019 Posted 28 July 2019 All I've read on this again is penalties and retrospective action being brought against drivers. What was the race like?

Most entertaining so far. Purely thanks to the rain and about 3 spins on the same corner of the track at different times (Leclerc, Hulkenburg, Hamilton). Think Max even spun at one point. It was chaos but it was brilliant to watch from a fan's point of view. I was rooting for Leclerc and he was doing so well just before he spun. Toro Rosso's were brilliant. Albon was 3rd at one point I think. Kvyat's done well to get the podium spot.
isaidno Posted 28 July 2019 Posted 28 July 2019 After one of the worse races ever ,France , we've had 3 of the best races in the hybrid era.
