David Hankey Posted 10 March 2019 Posted 10 March 2019 The fact is if the fathead Puel hadn't tried to change the way Vardy plays Leicester would probably be in 6th spot. Surely you play to you squad's strengths, something Rodgers has realised already. Onards and upwards!!

HighPeakFox Posted 10 March 2019 Posted 10 March 2019 Can't believe we're still doing pointless retrospective abuse at Puel - he's gone, get over it.

It's the insecure guys giving themselves a nice little ego-stroke because they feel all the Puel vitriol was justified now that we've beaten Fulham under Rodgers. I supported Puel in his time here and felt that his days were numbered before he walked through the door. It is what it is and it's in the past now. I'm looking forward to seeing what Rodgers can do. It's jokes though watching people cling on to the Puel argument like it's some sort of trophy for them. Bit pathetic, lol.
Kentfox64 Posted 11 March 2019 Posted 11 March 2019 Quite excited about the emphasis on wingers doing more.
OntarioFox Posted 11 March 2019 Posted 11 March 2019 Albrighton is going to absolutely thrive under Rodgers once back from injury, you heard it here first. He's exactly the sort of player he's talking about in this passage - a high-effort winger who loves the pressing game and is adept at both playmaking and goalscoring himself. I'm calling double figures for both goals and assists from him next season if this tweaked system comes good.

I do hope you're right but if I was asked to describe Albrighton in two words, they would almost certainly not be "adept goalscorer"

Man City this year in the cup and Sevilla in the UCL stand out to me, he just doesn't get into those positions often enough to get the chance, being as he has been our only true creative outlet for the past two seasons. One would hope a manager giving him the freedom to get into the box more in addition to setting others up will really help him get on the scoresheet more.
Ric Flair Posted 11 March 2019 Posted 11 March 2019 Albrighton is usually good for half a dozen assists a season so to ask for 4 goals as well really shouldn't be out of the question. I do think though Harvey Barnes is the sort of dynamic player that will offer double or treble that in goals and assists. Can't wait until the flood gates open.

You really do have to think that once he smashes one in (OG at Wolves notwithstanding), there will be no looking back for Harvey. We all saw what he's capable of at West Brom with a little wind in his sails. I'm just relieved that he's cemented a first team spot now, rather than his recall being wasted as it was last time from Barnsley.

OhYesNdidi Posted 11 March 2019 Posted 11 March 2019 4 goals and half a dozen assists are not really good enough if we want to break the top 6. Unless he can up his scoring, I’d hope we look for a right winger in the summer.

Collectively there needs to be a good spread which right now has been too low a number. Even when Mahrez was here we needed extra help and it does feel like in time Barnes and Maddison will bring that but some competition for that right wing spot is definitely needed, as is competition for Vardy.

He's a lovely guy and an excellent player for us but double figures in both assists and goals? Lol, no. Even the very best players have a hard time to achieve it. You're totally going overboard.

No mistake, having watched Chelski yesterday I would hardly put them miles away, bigger cheque book does not always have guarantees was the point I was making. Not an argument ,right or wrong issue just another perspective!

Sorry pal, but I'm fairly certain he'll be jettisoned and sold - Rodgers likes players who can hold onto possession and Albrighton's short range passing is diabolical. I wouldn't be surprised to see him sold to a club like Middlesbrough near top of Championship who play a direct style, that's the sort of team that MA will thrive in.
