StriderHiryu Posted 30 March 2019 Posted 30 March 2019 I have been very, very impressed by Brendan Rodgers. I thought he was well worth a shot when we appointed him, but was also a bit fearful because of his past reputation and ability to often comes across as a smug git. But WOW, I am starting to swoon over our new manager pretty hard right now. Aggressive, high tempo, exciting football The entire team seems fitter, sharper and more up for it Good changes showing understanding of how to change the tempo of the game at the right time The same set of players under Puel now seemingly able to cut through a staunch defence. I give Puel enormous credit for "the changing of the guard" but we never played at home like we did today in 18 months under his tenure. Vardy scoring for fun again Barnes, Maddison and Gray have notably improved Dealt with the Wes Morgan situation fabulously who has somehow become a 20 goal a season striker in defender form There is a buzz back around the team, fans and stadium again I am already bracing myself for a few seasons time when he inevitably leaves mid-season to go to Chelsea or similar, but you know what? I don't even care! This is the first time in ages that I can't wait to see the next match! Brilliant stuff!
Tielemans63 Posted 30 March 2019 Posted 30 March 2019 Was the best possible appointment. Well done Top for making it happen. I'm not sure he is smug, just believes in himself and there's nothing wrong with that. Long live the Brodge

Yes quite right, I feel like the physical coach he brought in is already having an impact. The pressing from the front is much more effective, and James Maddision seems faster, sharper and has better stamina. He was great today.
Guest SO1 Posted 30 March 2019 Posted 30 March 2019 Praise the Lord. Someone finally understands my addiction.
norwichfox Posted 30 March 2019 Posted 30 March 2019 Another small step in the right direction today, I'm still to be fully convinced he's going to be our 2nd coming. The handling of our final 3 games this season will be crucial, as that's what our players will have in their heads throughout the Summer break - other than considering whether to push a transfer through.

Can’t see it and don’t think he will be a premier league player for much longer

Can’t see it and don’t think he will be a premier league player for much longer He was much, much better today. He gave the ball away very little and created havoc for Charlie Daniels all day long. So much so in fact, that Eddie Howe had to make a tactical switch as Daniels could not deal with the Ricardo / Gray overload. There was a period in the first half where he was surrounded by two players and pressed up against the touchline and tackled to the ground, yet somehow he got back up, beat both players and drove 25 yards toward goal and played a good pass. Don't get me wrong, I think this is a position we should recruit for to bring in some competition. We clearly miss the incredible Mahrez who contributed massively in terms of goals and assists and neither Gray, Ghezall or Albrighton is on that level. But on today's performance Gray looked good.

Harsh to talk about Albrighton in that way. He is a different type of player and before his injury and Puel departing he was our only player creating real chances on a regular basis. He has great vision, passes the ball first time without wasting time, and keeps things simple. He is reliable and has been consistent since the title winning season (and before).
Suzie the Fox Posted 30 March 2019 Posted 30 March 2019 Wasnt a fan on the appointment, had focused mainly on the bad stuff but im already swayed. I was a Puel inner and saw what good he did bring to LCFC and was worried when he left we would be starting again. However its been the total opposite and he has continued with the good that Puel brought to us and then focused on what was needed to improve. The timing of Tielmans coming and Puel leaving though is clouding the issue a tad, as im sure the results would have improved had Puel still been here. Contraversial perhaps but we shall never know. TLDL - Happy af we have such a reputable manager, who seems in a good place in Leicester and with the team.
foxfanazer Posted 30 March 2019 Posted 30 March 2019 Spoke well after the game again today. Seems like he'll keep these young players grounded and focused

I actually think Albrighton will revert to being one of our left sided options rotating with Barnes, which is where he played in 15/16 too. I hope Marc stays with the club till he quits now, as he is a fantastic player who always gives us his all. I am just saying that imagine if we had Mahrez in the team today? We don't need to bring him back, but having a player at that level will make us an even better team, and we already look quite good!

I tend to agree with you, I have never seen the hype with Gray and always looked at it as 'he is still young' but apart from the odd game he just doesnt do it for me. Today he did well and its now time for him to strive for consistency and step up and make that spot his. I would love to see him play like he did today, till the end of the season.
Analysethis Posted 30 March 2019 Posted 30 March 2019 He is obviously a talented manager having nearly won the prem and achieved great success at Celtic albeit in a pants league. Its not new news that he can get the best out of players and having a clear and obvious style of play which is more offensive that defensive. However, its very early days and at times our lot have shown this potential before Tielemans arrived and its obvious he seems to have been the missing link and improved us. The feel good factor of having an approaching hands on "loving" manager has had a major effect also but before we start talking like we have cracked it, I`d like to see these performances over a longer period. So far its 10/10, lets hope he can keep it going!

David Hankey Posted 30 March 2019 Posted 30 March 2019 The fact is Brendan knows what he is doing whereas Puel didn't and that is the difference. Same squad of players and playing far better football, a delight to watch.

I like Marc as well but he struggles to contribute on the scoreboard, 2 goals & 2 assists this season is pretty meagre. I just don't think he fits in with how the team plays.

But you are right, Puel was a dick for never playing Tielemans.
HybridFox Posted 30 March 2019 Posted 30 March 2019 Just imagine if he pulls Europe off...as if the Celtic meltdown couldn't get any worse
foxes_rule1978 Posted 30 March 2019 Posted 30 March 2019 He is a manager that knows how he wants to play and we have the players to do it... always seemed a perfect fit
HighPeakFox Posted 30 March 2019 Posted 30 March 2019 Puel did a lot right, just didn't know how to extract the end product. This guy is benefiting from a very good squad, and he's the right guy for us.
