WalesOnline say the Foxes , along with Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and AFC Bournemouth, are interested in the Welsh international. James has burst onto the scene in south Wales, netting three times in 30 games for Graeme Potter's side and setting up a further six goals. The 21-year-old was the subject of an ill-fated £10million move to Championship promotion-chasers Leeds United on January 31. https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-city-tottenham-hotspur-leicester-2718754 The last thing we need is another winger who scores 2-4 goals per season. As Rodgers said the only problem with Leicester is lack of goals. Thank goodness we bought maddison he has half compensated for Mahrez's annual tally. We need Ryan Fraser

We need Ryan Fraser James has only just emerged this year, I don't particularly think his current tally of assists and goals is overly reflective of his likely contributions across a whole season next year. He's also going to cost probably less than ten making him low risk. He'd be worth signing even if we loaned him straight out tbh. Edited 8 April 2019 by Finnegan 3

Sign him and loan him straight back for a season to Swansea where he is comfortable and familiar with.

Infact it can be more beneficial for him to stay in the championship due to more games and more expected playing time. Having both of these will give him more confidence and could be a much better player. In regards to playing a handful of games in a lower end premier team to a season in the championship. Unless they put in the clause must play a set amount of games then the club in the prem might be just as beneficial

Gerard Posted 10 April 2019 Posted 10 April 2019 I've not seen him but he's exactly the profile of player we should be going for. Signing the best young players in the Championship usually means you won't go too far wrong. Only 25 games in his career and getting great reviews. He's lightening quick which means he'll be a threat to whoever he plays against. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47874461 According to whoscored.com he's played in eight different positions this season. He might even end up eventually being a Vardy replacement. He'll be on the cheap as well as Swansea want him to sign a new contract but the release fee is the sticking point. I'd be certainly all over this because even if he failed to make the grade it's likely you'll at least get your money back. Another young un to carry on the club's philosophy and hopefully Brendan can turn him into a player. https://www.whoscored.com/Players/302313/Show/Daniel-James
egg_fried_rice Posted 10 April 2019 Posted 10 April 2019 Yes please. I know he's more of a wide forward, but to me he looks like he has all the attributes to develop into a Vardy replacement. Imagine how some time spent on the training ground together along with 'developer of talent' BR could see him improve further.
Finnegan Posted 10 April 2019 Posted 10 April 2019 Not only would he have to prove to be consistently capable as both a finisher and as leading in the line from a central position, he'd also arguably be a waste isolated in Vardy's position when carrying the ball is his biggest strength. Pace alone doesn't make you the next Vardy otherwise we'd already have that in Gray. 3

Sure, Barnes experienced his breakout on loan in the championship - but James is already breaking out now, at Swansea, so if we loan him back it could stagnate his progress

No. Last year of his contract and Swansea know he won't extend without a joke of a release clause. Leeds nearly got him for ten and common consensus is he'll go for less not more in the summer because of his contract situation. Of course its all speculation but Man City were linked for about 7.

Let's say a lower end prem team has him on loan if or when we buy him. He plays 12 games for said lower end prem team. Do you think he would come back a better player. Or do you think he would return a better player playing 40+ games in the championship as a guaranteed starter. Hes a young lad and his confidence could be struck if he plays poorly in the prem a couple of times, atleast in the championship he has that leway 1

You could be right but it could goto a bidding war as a lot of clubs will be in for him. They have already said they will not entertain bids such as Leeds offer in Jan and would rather it goto tribunal if needs be at the end of the season. He's been with the youth team since 2014 so they would be entitled to a fair chunk of compo if he keeps tearing it up next season. Granted not hid market value but at least and probably more than the £7 your talking so it would make no sense to sell him for that now.

To perform at this level, he needs to adapt to it properly, which he may not be able to do at Leicester if he won't be able to start consistently due to competition. He can light up the Championship as much as he wants, but in the end he has to make a step up at some point. A loan to a bottom half premier league side makes sense... A club like Crystal Palace could really use him, for example, especially if they lost Zaha. The experience he gained there would do him much better than a loan back to Swansea to give him "confidence" - confidence which he already would have following his excellent season there
Ric Flair Posted 10 April 2019 Posted 10 April 2019 Who do we think is better Bowen or James? Bowen will cost at least £15-20m and is a freak this season but James since I said had no end product is on a one man mission to score and assist every game. He is also the quickest player I have seen in a long while.
stu Posted 10 April 2019 Posted 10 April 2019 (edited) I can’t see this happening if he is a right footed left midfielder like the who scored link suggest. He most likely be competing with Barnes, Albrighton and Gray for one spot. I think we’d be looking for a left footed right midfielder ala Mahrez or a better version of Ghezzal. It isn’t out of the question that Ghezzal or even Diabate could become that player we need in that role once Brendan has a summer working with them. Edited 10 April 2019 by stu Spelling!
Haywood_6 Posted 10 April 2019 Posted 10 April 2019 Anyone seen the highlights from last night's game? This lad is scarily good and quicker than shit off a stick
