If England & S.lanka end upon in tue same pointfor for =4th.   So so they go through, because they Beat us..in the Early rounds.??

Now we Need rain,so the 3 Teams End agerung us, only get Single points.......

This is everything that is wrong with the sport of cricket, hoping for weather to affect the results so your team can benefit...

Anyway, sorry to disappoint but the weather is looking favourable for the next week or so.

I imagine if a semi or the final was rained off it would just get moved until they can play?

We bowled first because it was absolutely the right thing to do. Archer, Wood and Woakes beat the bats of Finch and Warner about 15 times between them in the first 10-15 overs. They were very unlucky.

Woakes was certainly unlucky not get Finch but we did bowl far too short when you compared it to how the Australia's went.

They put a graphic up and I think two of our first sixty balls were hitting the stumps and with swing in play that's pretty poor.

Other than the weather forecast, what are you looking for as a captain when you decide whether to bat or field first?

Is it all about the state of the crease?

State of the pitch at the start, weather conditions later on in the game or days if test match, how the pitch might change over course of the day(s), whether your team is stronger setting target or chasing depending on players in team...

Why do English teams always talk themselves up so much when they haven't been world beaters for years? It only hurst us in the end. same with the England NT and U21 football teams recently.

I think it would have been foolish for anyone to suggest they weren't in with a chance of winning the tournament this year given they've been the best team int he world for the past few years. There's a difference between being arrogant about your chances and being realistic about them.

Sadly, we've exposed ourselves as one-trick ponies who can't cope with conditions our squad have spent their whole lives playing in!

I think most teams talk themselves up.  We were ranked number 1 in the world and had home advantage.....most would conclude that would make us favourites.  But I think if you follow England for long enough then you know to start worrying when everything points to an England win...too many years of disappointments

Still could win it though.:).

In 50 over cricket, unless conditions are going to change quickly (and its worth noting you really want to bat in daylight, not under the 'lights') then its really personal preference. Generally its better to chase, in my view, but there again, if you can get a big total, 'scoreboard pressure' can make the top order of the opposition do silly things. Some teams tend to do better with it one way round or the other. The theory is that more pressure is on both teams in the second half of the game. Do you want that pressure on your bowlers or batsmen?

But yeah, since its England, mainly the lights thing.

Just shows what happens when you bowl the ball in the right areas, England seem obsessed with the short ball, have done for years. Never seen to learn there lesson either Pakistan seem in the adsedancy England seem to be declining at the minute.

Always an advantage batting second as you know what you need to get but as you say if the opposition go big scoreboard pressure can make teams crumble, batting under lights is not the problem it used to be as the lights generally are amazing nowadays plus it doesn’t get properly dark until after the game finishes.
