Curse of the TV Games

Recommended Posts

Was thinking about this before the match. We seem incapable of performing when live on TV. This season's stats:

Man U 2-1 Leicester LOSS

Leicester 1-2 Liverpool LOSS

Arsenal 3-1 Leicester LOSS

Leicester 1-1 West Ham DRAW

Leicester 0-2 Tottenham LOSS

Leicester 1-1 Man City (Cup) DRAW

Everton 0-1 Leicester WIN

Newport 2-1 Leicester (Cup) LOSS

Wolves 4-3 Leicester LOSS

Liverpool 1-1 Leicester DRAW

Leicester 0-1 Man U LOSS

Tottenham 3-1 Leicester LOSS

Leicester 1-4 Crystal Palace LOSS

Watford 2-1 Leicester LOSS

Leicester 0-1 Newcastle LOSS

1 win, 3 draws (with a penalty shootout loss) and 11 losses. That is poor. Two more TV games to come.

8th home defeat of the season, that’s shocking for us when you think Newcastle,Cardiff and Southampton have beat us here

Almost 50% of our home games we have lost - 8/17 to date which shows how good our away form must be to even be in contention for 7th.

I was posting about this very real fact on Facebook earlier as regard our season's performances in front of a live, national TV audience! We haven't played well in front of the glare of Sky's live match cameras all season long (Liverpool away aside), the BBC's (the Newport FA Cup debacle) or BT's - and so in spite of our current form it was no real surprise that we followed suit tonight too.

Had to check and do quick maths. Quite incredible.

On TV. 1 win, 2 draws and 10 losses.

Off TV. 13 wins, 3 draws and 5 losses.

That's absolutely unbelievable lol

0.38 points a game on TV

2 points a game off it

That's freaky.

I'm not sure if it's being televised itself that seems to make a difference to our mentality.  Or if it's the move of the kick off times away from the standard ones that somehow upsets our preparation?

Never the less, as long as I can remember, we have always seemed absolutely dreadful when a game is moved for TV. Apart from the title season, which wasn't normal anyway.
