Koke Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 One of the 2 successful signings Sven made in his time here (Nugent being the other). Nearly a decade at the club and still going strong eith over 300 league appearances for us. 15/16 is seen as peak Kasper but 16/17 he truly stepped up as well, especially in the Champions League. Made a world class save away to Copenhagen with an injured hand, and he topped that by saving Correa's pen away to Sevilla in the first leg and again saved Nzonzi pen in the second leg. Here he reflects on his time at Leeds Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel comments on Leeds United spell Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was at Leeds United in 2010-11. Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has suggested on Joe Hart’s Youtube series Gloved that he should not have joined Leeds United back in 2010. Schmeichel moved to Leeds in 2010 and left the West Yorkshire outfit in 2011 for Leicester. The Denmark international goalkeeper played quite regularly for the Whites during the 2010-11 campaign. The 32-year-old, though, has admitted that he did not enjoy his time at Elland Road, and believes that the Leeds fans did not take to him. Schmeichel told Joe Hart’s Youtube series Gloved, as transcribed by Leeds Live: “I remember about three weeks after joining Leeds thinking, ‘What have I done?!’ It was just the wrong club for me at that time. It was very clear, very early on that it was the wrong club for me. “It was a club where I was not accepted and with my father’s history, it was evident among the fans that they did not approve of that. I just didn’t feel welcome at all at the club, by the whole club, that’s the manager (Simon Grayson) as well. He didn’t give me any kind of confidence. “I had a decent season, I thought. I didn’t set the world alight but I had a solid enough season, but I did not enjoy my time there at all. It was a really bad time.” Schmeichel has been superb for Leeds over the years and is now regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League. The Denmark international has become much better since the time when he was at Leeds, and the 32-year-old still has a fair few years left in him at the highest level. The former Manchester City goalkeeper played a key role in Leicester’s stunning Premier League triumph during the 2015-16 campaign. As for Leeds, the Whites failed to win promotion to the Premier League via the Championship playoffs this season.
Izzy Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 I know he's got a rep for being a bit of an arse and I know his distribution isn't the best etc, etc... But, he's been outstanding for us and has saved/gained us many, many points and wins over the years. He's a leader and a Leicester legend and if he can maintain his form, I hope he stays another few seasons and makes it to 10 years with us.

Yes N'Didi Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 Save away at West Ham from Andy Carroll was immense.
davieG Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 Leeds United fans on Twitter have laughed off claims from Leicester Citygoalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel that they didn't like him during his stint at Elland Road. The Premier League-winning Dane spent the 2010-11 campaign with Leeds, but then quit for Leicester. Schmeichel, son of Manchester United legend Peter, made 37 Championship appearances for the Whites that season, helping them finish seventh on their return to the second tier. Despite that, the 32-year-old, speaking to Joe Hart's Gloved series on YouTube, is adamant that he wasn't welcome in West Yorkshire and claims that the fans resented him for his who his father was, given the animosity between Leeds and the Red Devils. Vlad the Fox Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 Can’t remember who it was against (maybe chelsea???) but that finger tip save onto the post during our Champions season.

Sampson Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 His penalty save vs Sevilla is surely his most iconic moment?

Corky Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 As is usual with us, a cheaper signing turns out to be a massive hit. We've signed Schmeichel, Vardy and Mahrez for £2.4 million- how much would they cost now?
Apollo Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 3 40 minute videos of him talking about his career - worth a watch if you’ve got the time.
Corky Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 Watching the part about him signing for us. He mentions that we were in the process of signing another keeper. Who was that?

It's not like I've got to go out drinking with him!

TheSomersetFox Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 the way he lead the club through Vichai’s passing was special. Great keeper in his own right but an even bigger personality. Legend

The second he left to join us their chant became "Your Dads a **** and so are you".
davieG Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 'He stared me down' - Leicester City's Kasper Schmeichel recalls run-in with Nigel Pearson Dane said former manager played a 'pivotal' role in his career, but there was one 'frank conversation' ByJordan Blackwell 13:00, 27 MAY 2019UPDATED13:17, 27 MAY 2019 Nigel Pearson and Kasper Schmeichel after a meeting between Leicester City and Blackpool in 2012 (Image: Will Johnston) Nigel Pearson played a “pivotal” role in Kasper Schmeichel’s career but the Leicester City goalkeeper has revealed the one run-in he had with his former manager. Pearson took over from Sven-Goran Eriksson as City boss in November 2011, just four months after Schmeichel had moved to the King Power Stadium from Leeds, and the pair hit it off almost immediately. But in the 2014-15 season, when Schmeichel returned from a three-month lay-off with a fractured foot but only found himself on the bench behind Mark Schwarzer, there was a “frank conversation” between the Dane and Pearson. There are no prizes for guessing who won the dispute. “Nigel is one of those guys who is a very important figure in my career,” Schmeichel said on Joe Hart’s Youtube series, Gloved. “He pulled me aside after about a week (after joining City) and after a brief conversation, he said: ‘By the way, I’ve known about you for a long time and I was never too sure. But I’m having you.’ “That made me feel a million dollars, that it took me a week to turn someone’s opinion. “We had a great relationship from there on in. He was fantastic. “But the guy is brutally honest. “I had one situation where I came back from an injury and he didn’t play me. I had a frank conversation with him but he just stared me down. “I knew that I had to shut up then. I wasn’t going to win that argument.” Although Pearson remains reluctant to take credit for the Premier League title win that came in the season following his departure, Schmeichel said the former boss deserves praise for the current standing of the club. “He built the infrastructure of the club,” Schmeichel said. “He built an amazing atmosphere. A lot of the people that he brought in are still there. “He deserves huge credit for what Leicester is today and what Leicester achieved from what he put in place and how he built the club up. “He was a very pivotal figure. I captained my first game under him. He made me vice-captain. He put a lot of faith in me. “As a person he really cared about his players. He still does, he still cares. He treats them like his own children. He looks after you. You could always go to him with anything and that was amazing for me.” https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/he-stared-down-leicester-citys-2912051
Stadt Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 Imagine not absolutely adoring Nige. I think Pearson probably would have had a hugely successful coaching career if he was born a decade earlier
