The culture at the top of the club is very much down to Kuhn vichai and top - SW at the helm on a day to day basis 

 

is there any evidence that this ‘looking after of people you are responsible for’ was directly to do with top or is it simply the way the generally excellent way the club is run ???

Who ever sanctioned it would have to get tops signature on the expenditure cheque, So Top would have known about it if not even instigated it.

We’re not running a corner shop .... I guarantee you that no one would have woken top up to ask him !

Didn't need to wake him up, it was about 6 in the evening 

 

From what I heard, from the staff on the trip, we were told that he had directly authorised it. I don't know if that's true or not, but that's what we were told while sat in the hotel bar and that they were authorised to buy us food and drink.

 

Regardless of who authorised it, it's still an incredible gesture, no other club in the world would even pay for such a trip, let alone cover the extra expenditure of the extra night, with dinner included

Fully agree that the whole culture of the club (apart from the few nobs we retain on the terraces) is down to his father and himself - we are very fortunate and other owners who actually care do look at our club as an example to follow.

 

 I suspect that many other clubs would, in the same situation, have had a long delay before arranging the o/night accommodation AND very few would have arranged dinner and drinks without any questions or limits - you can imagine the newspapers would have had a field day if you had been left in the coaches overnight so the club did the right thing for both you and themselves .....

I feel for Top one day this project may well hit the buffers , our history says that it 100% will, and if that happens the goodwill he had developed and bought will mean jack shit !

how would you have liked him to have been treated differently?

 

there's no denying that we were ball bag towards the end of his tenure - football is a business, and a results business at that.  you don't perform - then you're on your bike.  if we'd sat and rested on sentiment, there's no telling where we'd have ended up.

Doesnt matter even if that is the case. Its his organizational culture that makes staff believe that is the appropriate action to take. Trust me if you work for a tight company, you wouldnt just do this for the heck of it. Guarantee 90% of other clubs or even companies would just play the 'its out of our hands' card.

 

Why do we always have to put down any act of kindness? Not as if Top and his family need any more admiration from our fan base... he just appreciates us, its as simple as that.
