Average match with only hardcore fans watching? Absolutely.

World Cup final with every punter and his mum chipping in? No way and not representative either.

I think Gatland was right when he said that England had already played their final.

Fair play to SA, they were just too powerful but I feel for the England players as they'll know they never got going. A really poor performance.

South Africa strangled the life of out that match but were deserved winners.

England, France, New Zealand and Wlaes will come away with a feeling of what might have been in the world cup.

Having lived in South Africa, New Zealand, Wales and England there’s only one country I couldn’t stomach losing to and they only came 4th. So congrats to the Boks, you deserve it.

Though I wish you could have won it without making the Welsh so happy.

Small point - Got to laugh at the same people / pundits who are praising the South Africa style of play but calling Ireland's style boring 12-18 months ago though when SA's game is basically even more forward / box kicking based. They had a game plan and executed it to perfection, I'm sure the victory will go down well in Munster thanks to Rassie.

Well played again SA though, thats how to play tournament rugby, pleased for Kolisi and Faf is a player we'd all love to have but love to hate.

Incredible defence from South Africa. Particularly at 6-3 on their own line. That missed kick from Farrell was key at 15-9...right when England had a sniff of momentum.

Unfortunately for England their passing accuracy went to pot for this final. The majority of the passing was at the shoulder or just behind. Can't do that against a side with the line speed and discipline of South Africa. That, combined with the scrums, was the difference. Every opening quickly vanished with either a poor pass or poor decision.

Overall a great world cup! Kudos to Japan.

was a terrible game from a England. Ref didn’t help but i would have preferred us to lose badly to the All blacks than do so well to get to the final and be diabolical.

Always thought rugby was meant to be about sportmanship and graciousness.

Now i read the england players refused to wear their medals.

The rugby family being hypocritical......never.

Always felt Christian Wade was harshly overlooked by Eddie Jones. Whether he would have made a difference today or not, I don't know. But he would have posed a different problem for SA from the straight ahead battering rams that Eddie Jones prefers.

He's unbelievably dangerous but a massive liability in defence. If you think Daly struggled under the high ball then Wade would have been even worse. And tbh the wingers haven't really been an issue. As dangerous as Wade is, May and Watson are better players. Wade wouldn't have had a sniff today with how poor the passing was from the inside men.

Wade is shit. He's a classic example of a player that's successful against weak defences in a domestic premiership but useless making the step up to international. Like Danny Cipriani.

It's not about size either, look at Tom Varndell, one of the top scoring premiership try scorers of all time, nowhere near good enough got England.

Or conversely, Shane Williams, Cheslin Kolbe, Leigh Halfpenny, all world class.

Wade just offers nothing at test level.
