Sly Posted 28 September 2019 Posted 28 September 2019 Am I right in thinking, that since Brendan Rodgers took over as Manager, we’ve only ever lost games by a 1 goal margin? This is something the Pearsonites banged on about for years!!!

StanSP Posted 28 September 2019 Posted 28 September 2019 Incoming a defeat tomorrow of more than 1 goal then!

But yeah, Rodgers hasn't lost by one than one. Wouldn't start comparing him to other managers yet though considering he's been here for less than 20 games. I do like Rodgers though so that makes me some sort of "Rodgerite" I guess. Weirdos some of our fan base.

ALC Fox Posted 28 September 2019 Posted 28 September 2019 We were tough to beat under Pearson. I remember reading about the Chelsea away fixture in one of the first few games after promotion. In that article, the journalist reckoned we played as though we'd been in the Premier League for a number of years. I believe we never lost by more than 2 goals in that Great Escape season, which, for a newly promoted side was impressive, even though our points tally was poor and we were quickly running out of games. But, it suggested we weren't far away from turning it around. It took a tactical tweak to 3-5-2 and a change of attitude for it to happen. We weren't going to roll over for anyone, we had nothing to lose, and we went for it. Cue the greatest escape. I do see a parallel of sorts under Rodgers. The first few games he's been a little cautious but we've been largely very good and tough to beat. We're on a whole different level to that Great Escape season. The defeat at Old Trafford was probably the turning point, realising that we shouldn't be so cautious against certain teams. Then we faced Tottenham at home and we saw the results. Yes, VAR played a part but the laws are the laws. Tottenham could've been spurred on (ahem) by that decision and really gone for it. They didn't, and we took advantage of a shift in momentum and turned the game around. Could this tweaked approach bear fruit for us in the long term this season? Yes, the change has come earlier in the campaign; yes, the circumstances are very different; and, yes, I don't see us going gung-ho against Liverpool at Anfield. However, looking at the teams we've already played compared to our top 6 rivals like Everton, Wolves and Watford, and how they've performed so far, I'm becoming more and more excited about this season with every passing game. It looks like our games against West Ham, Arsenal, Spurs, Man Utd, and Chelsea may end up being the difference between finishing third and seventh this season.

The whole world smiles Posted 28 September 2019 Posted 28 September 2019 There was nothing devisive about Pearson. I would have thought every single Leicester fan with half a brain is a pearsonite. If you for some reason didn't like him or appreciate the work he did then you are a moron. I hate this notion that you have to be either in the Pearson or Ranieri camp. They both did brilliant jobs for very different reasons. I'm 34 and Ranieri, Pearson, Martin O'Neil are rightly on a peadastool of absolute elite Leicester City Managers in my lifetime. Most clubs would be lucky to have had one of those in that time. Feels like we have another one in Brendan. Up the city!

Sly Posted 28 September 2019 Author Posted 28 September 2019 I neither like, or dislike Pearson, no more than I do Ranieri or Peul. They’ve all been part of the journey and help shape this squad to what we have today.

Stadt Posted 28 September 2019 Posted 28 September 2019 I’ve been surprised that since Rodgers came in we’ve been excellent defensively but we’ve not really hit our stride when attacking yet. We have had tough fixtures so far this season but we’re potentially a scary prospect if it does all click.

jonthefox Posted 28 September 2019 Posted 28 September 2019 Puel’s football was excruciating to watch, but the man did a lot of good in other areas. It’s fair to say that after he left, we were a better team.

This is a thread praising our defence- every single one of the 4 players in our first choice defence was either signed or developed to first team standard under his tenure. You might have developed a blind hatred of him, but a lot of our fans can see that he did some good work.
HybridFox Posted 28 September 2019 Posted 28 September 2019 Don't hate Puel at all. I love Brendan a lot more but despite results, he put down some good foundations for us during his time here and I will respect that.
Dan Posted 28 September 2019 Posted 28 September 2019 We've only lost 4 games under him. All 1-0 bar the Watford loss on his first game. Our defence has been really decent since the start of last season bar the odd game.

Our performance against Man City away last was far from naive.
