I nominate Zieler for being statistically the worst goalkeeper in the Premier League when he deputised for Schmeichel.  He was the only one to concede more goals than he saved shots.   Google 'Zieler howlers' to see his continuing professional development.

There should be a place for bad value as well as just bad.  Slimani was a terrible buy.  His 15 starts cost £29m and millions more in wages.  He had the touch of a donkey and always seemed to be moaning at his team mates about something.

Silva was a let down too - £22m for ten starts.  Never coped with the speed of the Premier League.  It's as if he never caught those 14 seconds back up.

I saw Pressman concede a goal against the Preston Goalie. He was so overweight he could not get off the floor. The commentator sounds like he wants to be somewhere else.

fat boy trying....not

This wasn't in the last decade, it was during our awful spell between 2004 and 2008.

We've been so blessed with world class memories that it's very difficult for me to remember some of the players that have sucked so bad. So I'm factoring in value for money AND non-footballing incidents that have contributed in some way to memorialising their time here.

Darius Vassell (Kinda harsh again but 4 goals in 44 appearances says a lot...)

Vassell is really, really harsh. Came on a free, spent most of his time on the wing – if anything I was surprised at how not shit he was after spending months away from football post a stint at some Turkish side I'd never heard of. Was unplayable when we beat Forest at our place.

Seeing Michael Johnson's name pop up just makes me sad, he could've been a bloody world beater if it wasn't for his body, must be an absolute killer when it just lets you down time and time again. I remember he came on for us against Cardiff away (we lost, obviously - think it was live on the BBC when they had a handful of games) and he went on one little run that was similar to how he played when he first broke in at Man City, but it was just never going to happen.

That Sven era was weird, not great, but definitely interesting - before we gave him a summer there was a point where we looked incredible. The side that had Naughton, Davies, Yakubu – for a little stretch of games, was sensational to watch. Then we lost at Cardiff (if memory serves) and just completely tailed off.

You could make a funny team of trialists / rumours – it was like he'd set up some bizarre Footy Manager search criteria. We had South African, Honduran and Benin internationals all turning out at one point. Remember being so excited taking Michael Rensing on trial for crying out loud.

Poor choices so far and not really thought about it myself too much, Conrad Logan should be taking his rightful place in goal here for a start off.

You mean his rightful place on the bench, surely?

DJ Campbell?

He would be in mine 100%.

Also think the Harry Kane shouts are slightly bitter and a bit strange. He hardly played and when he did, Nige, in his infinite wisdom, played him on wing. Same as Beckford - he had a weird attitude but you could tell there was a player in there.

Zieler

Lamey

Mills

Bruma

McGivern

Lingard

Johnson

Danns

Powell

Bednar

Futacs

I was struggling with the final choice until I saw Nick Powell's name- 3 of the worst appearances you'll ever see and three of the worst shots you'll ever see, one at Southampton I think that trickled 20 yards wide at snail's pace. Bruma did score two great goals against Watford but generally lookd out of his depth, Mills a waste of money, Zieler for the level we were at just wasn't good enough and the strikeforce could probably manage 8 good touches between them a season, let alone goals.

Kane didn't play on the wing for us much. He was bloody awful as a striker up top. Nugent made him look like a non league striker. He's recently returning to his old self after a run of a few years of being supplied tap ins by an in form Erikson and Alli.

Hernandez and Iborra - not in the worst eleven, but would be high up in the category of 'what was the point of signing them'.

May be a bit contraversial but Danny Ward at £12m would be a contender in the 'what was the point of signing them'.

To be fair to him he’s been decent when we’ve needed him in the cups (think he had a bit of a shocker against Burton though). £12 mill was a ridiculous price tbf, Liverpool must have been laughing all the way to the bank.
