Yeah, Dembele was pretty scathing about Rodgers when Rodgers left Celtic for us, which is a bit rich coming from someone who'd left the mighty Celtic for Ligue 1.

Sorry to bust anyone’s bubble but there is no chance of this, he hates Rodgers after the way things unfolded when he left Celtic and was pretty disparaging about him again on social media when Rodgers left Celtic.

There was more to it than that, he accused Rodgers of going back on a promise (similar to the Sterling and Suarez scenarios) and outed the fact Rodgers tried to convince him to go to Brighton in January then take him to China with him in the summer yet when Lyon bid Rodgers initially said he couldn’t go.

I've just read an article written by the Daily Record that Rodgers had asked Dembele in the summer of 2018 whether he'd be interested in joining him at Leicester? Backs up what many have said in that we made it known through intermediaries that he was our long term target once we could fcuk Puel off.

It sounds like their relationship is irreparable then really, unless they've since had contact behind the scenes, which they may well have done during lockdown.

 

I've been thinking he'd be a good signing for us since he broke through at Fulham so I'd definitely be happy with it if he and Rodgers can let bygones be bygones. Sounds like perhaps this might be a tactic from Dembele's agent to force Man Utd's hand.

 

Or maybe it's a smokescreen tactic by us and we're really in for Depay. In short, I don't have the foggiest idea what's going on and the slightest bit of decent transfer talk has got me unreasonably excited again

Yeah that was the same summer where he had the China offer and was trying to convince Dembele to go there with him also.

I really can’t see it happening but Dembele would be a sensational signing, he’s tailor made for the EPL.

It’s a tough one, they are quite different types of strikers. Dembele seems to have went up a level since he’s went to Lyon and overcome his hamstring issues.

 

At the moment the Edouard of the last 6 months is hitting heights even beyond what Dembele did at Celtic, but it’s hard to say how good Dembele is now in comparison as he’s playing in a stronger league in France. 
 

In the fullness of time I really can’t split them in terms of who will go on to be the better player, they are both different class.

For an outfit who specialise in sports, I'm surprised Sky isn't aware of the tensions between Rodgers and Dembele.... Think we've got more chance of signing Donald Trump to play in goal for us.
