Apart from the odd fiver or other money, are there any other things you have collected off the pavement? For me I'll always pick up a washer - well they come in handy. Equally, unused cable ties, often found near telegraph poles/lampposts etc. Embarrasses Mrs. FFF,  but I look at it as recycling.

I once found £50 in a wallet in London outside the Royal Courts of Justice when I was about 14. My dad said I should hand it in to the nearest police officer, which I did as there were a few about. He took my name and address. 3 months later I got the £50 in cash in a recorded delivery as it was never claimed. My dad made me share the cash between me and my two brothers. I felt cheated.

My mum used to often remind me that I once licked salt off the pavement where someone had discarded one of those little blue bags of salt that used to come in a pack of crisps back in the day.

I sometimes pick up litter off the street and put it in a bin if there’s one nearby. Obviously not skanky dirty litter but if it’s a newly discarded tin or bottle for example I may pick it up and bin it.

Not always like, I mean I’m not a bin man or owt, but I can’t stand seeing litter on the streets when there’s a bin within 5 yards.

Boils my piss tbh.

So you're discriminatory towards litter? Thought better of you mate.

I draw the line at dirty nappies and used condoms but anything else is fair game

Around a couple of months ago, noticed a wallet in the middle of a busy road in Syston (the road outside Biffa and Pukka Pies).

I went to pick it up and, when opening it, there was £90 inside it with a host of retail shop credit cards. Luckily, I found a driving licence of the owner in there and noticed she only literally lives up the next street to me.

Went to knock on her door to explain that I found it and she blamed her 1-year-old for "throwing it out of her car" and couldn't thank me more for returning it to her.

I was walking along Skeggy beach many years and saw a funny looking stone in one of the rock pools. I picked it up to investigate and it was a used condom.

Omg this reminds me of my recent trip to  montego bay. Was the last day or two and were walking up the beach. My 6 year old (at the time)  reaches down to pick something up as i look i realized it was a condom.   Felt so disgusted but upon further analysis it appeared to be unused (unless the caribbean sea cleaned it out). It was an instant trip to the nearest place to wash his hands 50 times lol.

Same here, drives me mad!

Not quite “street litter” , but Anyone in birstall who knows harrowgate park, will know it’s a small enclosed park. Only one way in/out, with litter bins at the entry/exit point.

the amount of discarded plastic bottles left behind on the field, by footballers, enrages me.

there’s a bin on the way out 😡
