TrentFox Posted 26 August 2020 Posted 26 August 2020 If we can get a decent fee, I’d sell. I really don’t rate this guy. Would rather see us finding ways to accommodate Hamza or KDH...... or even Tavares (based on watching him for a sum total of 20 minutes)!

He's not prolific, no. There aren't many genuinely box to box midfielders these days though. Seems very polarised between defensive and attacking midfielders

Being a selling club's not so bad. It allows us to be a buying club too. 8

He's_Magic Posted 26 August 2020 Posted 26 August 2020 Strikes me that he isn't happy sitting on the bench, he wants to play every week and he isn't guaranteed that here. Personally, think it's refreshing to see someone who isn't just happy picking up a premier league wage and not playing. 1

Brendan has said in many interviews he really rates Matty & if fit he would be an integral part of the team. There's a link somewhere but I cant be bothered to find it. That really is scary if true.
Buzzell Posted 26 August 2020 Posted 26 August 2020 (edited) Very good squad player. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wanted the move out of pure frustration but he still has a part to play in my eyes and I hope he stays. Edited 26 August 2020 by buzzer_b

Bring them off the bench by all means but we need a few older heads in there. Exactly this. We lacked experience for a lot of matches last season, the last thing we want to do is make the average age in the squad even lower. Keep Praet, he'll get enough games next season to be happy (provided he hasn't fell out with Rodgers), we can think about letting him go next summer.
Dan Posted 26 August 2020 Posted 26 August 2020 Wouldn't surprise me at all if he did want out. Thought the management of him was baffling at times. He wasn't great at all post lockdown, mind. Just another bizarre situation.

dylanlegend Posted 26 August 2020 Posted 26 August 2020 CM isn’t priority we have Ndidi, Youri backed by Mendy, Hamza, KDH, Tavares. if we could get 20m for him and strengthen the wingers and left back I’d be quite happy, especially if Praet isn’t 100% happy

We have rinsed United and now Chelsea in my opinion. 2

We have a policy of selling 1 first teamer a year, Praet isn’t ‘essential’ he’s a squad player. We can’t compete with wages offered by Man U, Chelsea etc and to be honest it’s a good job too we could easily end up like Leeds did if we splashed cash willy nilly. 1

Dewsbury-Hall has not played higher than League One and Tavares hasn't even played U23 football. We play 4-3-3 with two no.8s and the only attacking no.8 we have outside of the two that start every week is Praet. 2

That’s strange cos I thought we played RW - Madders - LW Vardy we did when we were actually winning anyway

We played it once at home to Southampton in January and lost any sense of midfield coherence and it was swiftly binned. Maddison admits himself he is not a no.10.

With Chilwell I feel we sold cheap, with Praet Feel he's needed as with gray. It feels like we are doing a lot of selling not on good terms this window

I don't doubt the midfield 3 is Ndidi Tielemans and Maddison but you cannot play Mendy or Choudhury in the no.8 position against teams in the bottom half. We have no senior cover there if Praet goes. 1

This is the Matty James effect again I’m telling you. Every manager we’ve had believes he is the backup CM we need. Then he gets injured. Tbh if it’s a loan with option to be recalled it’s not a bad move for Hamza. However he’s premiership ready imo, not championship.
