Dire if true. What a wasted opportunity after the reasonably positive financial results the year before. And ultimately just to end up being relegated again.

I very much doubt that it is.

A little bird told me.. usually pretty good for inside info, but of course, must be taken with a pinch of salt until we see the published accounts.

However, if true, my goodness!!

Heard the same.

I'm sure it'll be all great though because their track record of being utter shit at everything doesn't matter.

If this is true then it shows absolutely nothing has been learnt from previous mistakes, scandalous and would love to hear anyone’s defending the hierarchy,

Which all means, this coming June, when we should have been getting 45m from the EPL, we instead get nothing. Macquirie gets it.

Which means, I think we are well and truly fcked unless KP start financing the club again - something they haven't done for a good 8 years.

So we took the 45m earlier rather than waiting till June.

Perhaps we still have the majority of the 45m sat in the bank?

Which would mean we aren't well and truly fcked?

Perhaps you're just looking at the worst case scanario, something everybody seems to be doing at the moment.

If Top announced he was giving the club £250m as a gift people would be moaning that he's only doing it due the fcuk ups by KP.

Rob Tanner was on the BTG podcast yesterday saying that everything he has heard suggests that the club has finally got its finances under control from a PSR perspective & that we're in position for a proper reset. Obviously the headline accounts are not the same thing as the PSR position, but they are closely related. And it would be surprising to report a loss of £19.4m for the Championship season then report a whopping £70m loss for the 2024/25 PL season when our income would have been much higher and we spent very little on player acquisitions.

Am I mistaken in thinking that in the 6 point deduction reasoning that it actually stated that our financial situation had improved, if that is correct then I cannot see it being a £70 million loss

The independent commission used 'positive trend' as a mitigating factor, reducing the initial punishment, yes

It's literally gone on running costs of wages.

You don't put back paying staff before Christmas if you still have the money to pay them when you usually do.

Sooner this little worm goes the better.

It’s absolutely astounding that supposedly elite business people allow this to happen just because it’s football, there is no way in any other walk of life would they sign off on such unsustainable losses and ‘rewarding’ employees for persistent poor performance.

Not really. Owning a Football club  isn’t about making money so very few are set up to try and make money. In not that everyone running them is incompetent, it’s that they all push the envelope to hope for sporting success.

If it’s money you want you don’t purchase a football club

Well.... £70m is better than £92m and £89m the previous two Premier League seasons :P

That was when we were throwing money at trying to get into the Champions League. In 24/25 we didn't even spend the money to stay up.

And back to @jammie82uk's point, it would be very odd for the Independent Commission to reduce our PSR points deduction from seven points to six because of the "positive financial trend" we've demonstrated only for us to post a £70m loss a few weeks later.

And 22/23 we lost £31m to finishing 18th instead of the predicted 8th + the [REDACTED] cost of firing Rodgers and coaching staff

Edit: well, not lost, but costs we didn't budget for at all
