From follicle implants to Regaine and hormone supplements, there are a lot of options available to the balding male.

What have people's experiences been?

I'm 29 in a couple of months, and while for pretty much my whole adult life I have had a bit of a receding hairline, it's only in the last 2 or 3 years that the hair on my crown has rapidly become more and more sparse.

I bought Finasteride last night online which apparently stops hair loss and in 66% of cases actually leads to a decent level of regrowth. After plenty of research I ended up buying one month's worth of generic Finasteride for £15, rather than paying £30 more for Propecia, the brand name with the rights to the drug. By all accounts it's basically the same drug. Planning on using it for a month and if there are no side effects, buy a 6 month course which works out at around £11 per month.

Anyone else had any luck using this?

If it does work, I just wish someone had told me about it sooner. What's the point polishing a turd by spending £20-£30 per month on a haircut when I could have been spending less than that actually improving the health of my hair?

No wonder you're always so miserablelol

Sorry, haven't got much to add to the baldness topic, managed to keep hold of all of mine and I'm heading into my late 20s soon (fingers crossed it stays for many years to come)

Someone I know had a hair transplant over in Turkey a couple of years ago and it looks fantastic if I'm honest, you'd never know he'd had one and it's boosted his self confidence for sure.

Started shaving mine completely bald this year with a razor (not even 30 yet). Best decision I’ve made, bald and sexy

Envious.

It works really well for some people. One of my best mates did the same thing a few years ago and it just suits him. He'd look weird with hair now.

It's difficult to explain but I just don't have a face for the bald look. It definitely suits some people more than others and I think I'd look like a nonce bald 😂

I'm early thirties and have significantly more grey hair now, but I've just decided to embrace it. When you get past the initial jokes with mates, nobody seems to care.

think i'd do the same with baldness as well, rather than trying to fight the inevitable.

Alternatively, what's the point spending £20-£30 on a haircut every month?  Either you go to a ridiculously expensive barber or you're getting your hair cut too often.  Or probably both.

You are what you are.  And if what you are is bald, then (i) you save money on hair care, and (ii) if it's cold you can wear a hat.

It's the going rate in Manchester. Mental, I know.

I have actually been going to a barber school whereby students cut your hair and they charge you £3.

Been doing that for about a year since I figured there was no point polishing a turd! And actually they do a decent job with what they have to work with!

I'm not particularly vain. I don't spend anything really on clothes, for instance.

I just think I personally would look considerably worse bald than with hair and so it makes sense to do something about it.

Not exactly scientific, but I always seem to notice those who.losr hair 'early' have a decent beard and as such, can kinda invert the look

I have a full head of hair but have a crappy straggling beard if it goes beyond stubble. So I'm stuck with a clean shave to 5 day stubble for ever. But a decent Barnet 😂

I've been going bald for years, and it was constant target of piss taking from my sister. For a balding head, you have to cut your hair really short anyway,  for it to look even half decent, so last year at 36, I thought I'd go for and one weekend when visiting my sister I asked her to shave it off on a number 2. I was really nervous, but I knew I had to do it. By Christmas I was shaving it on a number 1, then in August, driven by the fact I never wanted the old man clown look with hair on the sides and back I started wet shaving with a razor. Best thing I've ever done. Again I was nervous before doing that, spent weeks nearly doing it and stopping just before, asking people on here for tips etc But its great, you think you'll look shit without hair, but most people can pull it off. And a bonus, your haircut will always look exactly how you want it to. Right length, never gets messy or wet. Go for it I say.

I'm 32 and I got mine buzzed a few years ago prior to going on long holiday, as being abroad nobody knows you to comment on a different look, never looked back.  Used to sling Rogaine and that s**te in my hair at great cost for no reason.  As people have said, the worse thing us baldies can do is cover it as it just looks daft and shows some insecurity which isn't massively attractive.

Plus as an absolute miser, saving any money on haircut/product is a win/win for me.

Embracing it is better than trying to hide it.

The thinking is that I won't have to hide it if it works.

I just know I won't suit being bald. My face is too long and narrow. I'd look like a pool cue.

You might surprise yourself. I went through all the same worries as you. If you're really concerned book a couple of weeks off work, maybe go away (if you can) and do it. That way you have time to get used to it.

Trust me, you think you can hide it, but you can't, you spend thousands on these treatments that work for only a small group of men. The only sure fire to sort it is a hair transplant for like £30k or shave it.

I'll bear it in mind!

I've had decent hair in the not too distant past. It's only really a patch at this point, so I'd rather give supplements a go.

If they don't work I've only wasted £60/£70. Worth a try.

Baldness is caused by excess testosterone,  don't matter what you put on your head or rub in , it won't work, once it's going it's going.
