There is no way on this Earth we replace Vardy like for like, we have to look at alternatives ways of playing to fill what gaps we can.

les-tah Posted 3 November 2020 Posted 3 November 2020 (edited) We should strike and buy Edouard from Celtic I think in January. This will protect Vardy from injury as we are so dependable on him and give him some rest in the games where we need to break down teams more which will keep him healthy for the counter attack tactics and will get a couple more years out of him and pro long his top level career. Scotch Posted 3 November 2020 Posted 3 November 2020 Just one signing for me in January. A striker. A QUALITY striker. Given our business over the summer, it's quite clear that we won't just sign decent/good players as squad filler. If we were going down that road, we would have went for the likes of Callum Wilson or Josh King. We are only going for top quality players so having said that, Jovic or Milik on loan with an option to buy or Odsonne Edouard. I would obviously try and move on Slim but also see if I could get a dent offer for Ihneacho. I think we have all held Hope's that he would come good eventually but for me, even if he does get to a good level, he doesn't fit with how we play. Move him on.
moore_94 Posted 3 November 2020 Posted 3 November 2020 @Ric Flair http://sportwitness.co.uk/leicester-approached-clubs-star-ahead-potential-great-free-transfer-face-strong-european-competition/ Leicester have ‘approached’ club’s star ahead of potential great free transfer – Face strong European competition Once a flop at Newcastle United, Florian Thauvin could end up having a revenge story in the Premier League if Leicester City get their way. That’s what L’Equipe are suggesting on Tuesday, as they reveal three clubs have made approaches for the France international, whose contract at Marseille expires next summer. The winger has been in imperial form this season under André Villas-Boas, scoring three goals and assisting another five in eight league games, carrying on where he left off prior to his ankle injury that kept him out of action for pretty much all of last season. Leicester are among those interested, joined by the likes of Milan and Napoli, and the prospect of such a prestigious free transfer is not one to be ignored. That being said, Marseille haven’t said their last word in this, with talks existing between the French club and Thauvin’s representatives, but ‘only a long term offer could convince him to stay’. This suggests the deal currently on the table is more of a short-term thing, with money likely to be tight during the Covid-19 pandemic, which is where Leicester could come in and trump everyone. While still affected, Premier League clubs remain in better financial terms than most clubs around Europe, and this could be an advantage for Brendan Rodgers’ club. Either way, all that talk form England of Leicester’s interest in Thauvin appears to be well founded, and it’s definitely one to keep an eye on going forward. 2 1

Unless we sell perez I can't see him being willing to play second fiddle to under or barnes.
ARM1968 Posted 3 November 2020 Posted 3 November 2020 Malen is the striker we need. Reasonable money. Quick. Good control. Worth a punt. Not going to find another Vardy easily or in obvious places.

Not going to find another Vardy easily or in obvious places. its worth remembering that it took some vision and confidence in Vardys capability to transfer non league form to Championship/Premiership and some time for him to actually do it. It sometimes seems as though he's unique but there has to be others capable of it. The problem, I guess, is that the law of averages says your going to have more misses than hits if you take a punt.
Finnegan Posted 3 November 2020 Posted 3 November 2020 I notice Lemar still isn't getting a kick really at Atleti. I'm not sure why they did a 180 on getting rid of him really. Someone is never going to play him properly. Would definitely have him on a half season loan. Would have a striker as a priority though. Just never feel like we're going to score without Vardy on the pitch atm. Iheanacho has had some really good flashes but he's still not a 9, always does his best work with Vardy not replacing him.
Sankey93 Posted 3 November 2020 Posted 3 November 2020 Plea Thuram Malen Rashica any of them in January would be amazing. 2
Blanchflower78 Posted 3 November 2020 Posted 3 November 2020 Just find the Fofana of the attacking world please. No pressure... 2

ALC Fox Posted 3 November 2020 Posted 3 November 2020 Probably beyond us now that the big boys are interested and may cost a pretty penny but Patson Daka at RB Salzburg looks the business.

Rashica is the only realistic one there, for a January signing anyway. Plea and Thuram ain't going to walk out half-way through a CL campaign as they look like they could have a chance of qualifying from that group. Malen you've missed the boat with already imo, too many of the bigger sides already sniffing around him.
Fightforever Posted 4 November 2020 Posted 4 November 2020 (edited) Rashica would be cheap and can play along the front three think of a Zaha type player. Very fast good dribbler with decent finishing. Would be under 15 million pounds. Good Vardy back up. Edited 4 November 2020 by Fightforever
