Entitled fans or realistic fans?

Are we becoming entitled a la Arsenal etc, have we just earned the right to become entitled thanks to recent success, or are we just realistic with what we expect from the style of play /where we think we should be with our squad of players?

If we play our best team, I won't be too disappointed it's when you see a line up with our second choice players being preferred and played in positions that don't play to their strengths.

Totally agree with the first part. The irony of the second part is even more staggering though - the absolute slagging of our team by some (not necessarily you, of course) is way beyond sanctimonious.

I think it from a frustration of knowing we can do better, and have done better. If I felt we were performing at our level I'd be happy, but there's great potential in this squad to break the mould of the top 6 on a regular basis, and I feel we are letting ourselves down, at times because of the players not performing and other times because of the mamager hamstrunging them with the formation.

We didn't play well today. We didn't play well in the two preceding games, either. Whether you're top end of the Premiership or bottom of the Championship you're not a bad supporter for saying it.

Being 4th in the leauge and playing and winning in Europe was beyond my wildest dreams growing up. 

 

I absolutely love this team and love that we are the 'money ball' team finding a way to compete with and beat the elite with a fraction of their resources. 

 

I thinking winning the leauge in 2016 and social media in society in general has created a lot of entitled supporters that create a toxic atmosphere on here that is down right depressing.

As Leicester fans this is a) absurd to think and b) a key indicator for expectancies.

It seems to be good or bad. There's never any middle ground.

 

When we've lost a couple, people suddenly think we're the worse side in the League and when we've won a couple people think we're genuine title challengers.

 

Some of the comments pre today were astonishing. People were speaking as if the worse side in the League we're gonna beat us just because we've played poor in the last 3 out of 4 games.

This always comes back - it's about somebody else's money. Surely by that logic, we should expect to lose to Man Utd, Liverpool and the like, no?

Sitting in the double decker as a kid under Pleat's reign.

Trying to be neutral on the radio when Kelly, Levein and Holloway were stinking the place out.

Perhaps the almost 40 years of watching them has given me a more measured view.

And through my job, I focus on other teams in other leagues and people think I'm mad when I tell them how some of our fans are having frequent meltdowns.

Look at Forest, Derby, Sunderland, Ipswich and many others etc.

Think it depends what people’s expectations are. Personally want us to be a regular top 8 side challenging for Europe most seasons. This year would be happy with a top 8 finish and a decent run in the EL. 

 

Say what you want about Rogers and some of our players, but so far we are 3rd in the league and already through to the next round of the EL, whilst in the middle of an injury crisis with wins away to Arsenal and Man City. 
 

So overall can’t complain, we are still a young side so inevitable some weeks we will look like world beaters and others will look a bit weak. But as a club we are definitely heading in the right direction, and some seem to expect the sort of consistency levels even Man City and Liverpool can’t muster this season. Perspective is needed.

But he’s only the fifth best paid in the Premier League. So using your own (flawed) logic we’re still doing quite well.

On which subject, I had to be in Derby today for a work thing, and suddenly became aware that it might be prudent to remove my Leicester hat, saying to my colleague as i did so 'Don't really want to get my face smashed in'. At which point, some absolute mess with jogging pants half way down his legs confirmed that that had been his intention.

 

I'm glad I don't look all that beat-uppable.

What's frustrating for me is everyone is always focusing far too much on the negative. After a win its always about who didn't play well, who should be replaced, who should be sold, who should be our manager. Everyone is far too reactionary and totally miss the bigger picture. 

 

Yeah fine if you think that but dare to question it and you're labelled an apologist for Rodgers. The people giving out the criticism don't like it when they're criticised themselves. That's what annoys me the most. 

 

Someone posted earlier about comments before the season potentially being in a scrap fighting for points, lucky to qualify for Europe and not being anywhere near top six. 

 

But we're nearly a third in to the season, in the top 3, qualified for European knockout stages and have bagged some superb results. I don't doubt we could have picked up more points but the expectation that we could have played some pretty football that makes us look like peak 1970 Brazil with the fixture list and injuries is too far-fetched. 

 

And no, that's not being sanctimonious for calling those out who expect the world and are surprised when it's not given to them. Need to take stock on where we are as a club, where we've come from and what is to come. We are in a place where some of us wouldn't have even dreamt off merely a decade ago. Think some fans just need to embrace where we are a little bit more and enjoy the good times as much as possible. Too many are overly negative. They don't just criticise but they go on asking for changes without offering up any solutions, even when asked.
