We'll deregister Hamza

He's an academy trained player though, we'd have to leave Morgan or Praet out but baring in mind we already left Amartey out for the group games and he is now 4th choice CB it would have to be Praet.

I am a Watford fan in peace, Leicester are a bit of second club to me because quite a few years ago now I was the academy and then studieD at DMU. I just wondered what your thoughts are on Chalobah? I was just trying to make sense of the transfer really. It seems very unusual to me he will literally offer yous nothing. He has looked bang average in the championship this season and the vast majority of Watford fans probably wouldn't mind seeing him leave in all honesty and would probably be happy if we managed to get a replacement in. What I find strange is Choudhury is better than him.

It makes me want to cry.

We are speechless mate, his game seems to have completely declined since that dynamic box to box type player he was the year you did us in the playoffs.

Has he even shown anything for you since you got him permanently back in 17/18?

I think the more disappointing thing is our failure to find temporary cover for Praet than not liking a player who will be back up to the back up in defensive midfield.

I find it bizarre Rodgers has changed his tune to wanting to cover for Praet to being happy with replacing his third choice defensive midfield player with a like for like player.

Outside of the games he's rotated heavily for (EL group games, Arsenal in the Lg Cup, Palace at Christmas) Choudhury has been used for all of 13 minutes. We won't be playing any games between now and the end of the season where he will be rotating like that. It's just strange

Doesn’t look like it will happen as the Newcastle lad doesn’t want to come here .

I heard he supports Leicester so that’s the reason why

I'm actually fuming about it.

Sorry me being a numpty, misread your post as EPL. Too much time spent talking to Americans on r/soccer.

I doubt we give a **** about the Europa League regards Chalobah. If we want to win it, he's not likely to get anywhere near the team anyway.

He's emergency cover for games in the league and that's about it really.

He'll just be coming to sit on the bench just in case like Hamza has been. Hamza get's game time, we get someone who is experienced and competent if the worst was to happen. People need to relax. We aren't going to get a Kante to be 3rd choice.

He is a worse player than Hamza and the needs of the team and club outweigh that of any individual player. If the worst were to happen (and it did last season) i’d prefer we had the better player to fill in.

We aren’t tinpot anymore, we are chasing Champions League for the second season running and we are in with a good shout of 2 cup competitions. Deliberately weakening our squad with so much to play for is borderline negligence from the manager.

If Chalobah was really good enough for the prem, someone else would have picked him up by now and Watford wouldnt be looking to replace him.

Not really he has had a handful of good games against very average opposition but for the most part he has been poor and I believe he has probably got as much game time as he has because Hughes has been injured.

My view with the praet thing is that we were probably after two players and they haven't found anyone suitable to cover praet. AMN is probably the one that is still possible (unlikely) With chalobah I get the feeling we might not even see him play for the club if ndidi and mendy stay fit.

I agree to some degree about Hamza. I really rate him (more so than Brendan it seems) but we don't know what is happening behind the scenes. Hamza might be really unsettled. It's all speculation of course but I'n inclined to trust the management on this especially as it looks like he's unlikely to be involved much if at all.

True, we'd likely play our strongest XI in the knockout stages but he's also cup tied for the FACup too so we have no realistic alternative to Tielemans and Maddison from now until April, its bonkers.

I cannot accept that more couldn't be done to progress this squad, we are opting to be way more Conservative than we should given the position we again find ourselves in.

Remember when Ric put together that list of tantalizing European starlets and we've gone settled for this lumbering oaf who just about gets in a championship midfield. Tears in my eyes lol

Yeah we had a young lad on loan from United who has gone to Florest because we didn't play him too often, he was a bit light weight in fairness so it looks like Longstaff is concerned about game time at Watford.

Please could you describe Chalobah's playing style. Would it be fair to say it's consumer fraud to declare that he is an attack minded midfielder?

He's emergency cover. Our squad is immensely thin and Praet is injured.

We've got three defensive midfielders in the squad, one being a kid we want to send off on loan to play weekly if we can. We need a player that can actually pick a pass and play a bit further up, Hamza just tackles and that's about it. Water carrier is kind.

We literally just want a body in to cover just in case. We don't want to disrupt Dewsbury Hall's loan when the likelihood is whoever we add to the squad probably won't actually get a kick (and we can't bring him back without bartering with Luton and likely compensating them somehow.) We did it last year with Bennett and he only ended up playing because we got unlucky with injuries and suspensions at the end of the season.

Ideally we'd do one of the following: loan from abroad, loan a decent youth from a top Prem club or loan a quality player from the league's below.

But each is verging on the impossible at this point:

1. It's going to be very hard to get a player from the continent to agree to come on loan and sit on our bench at this point given that we're one of the countries most riddled with covid with the strictest lockdown.

2. Our competition in the league aren't going to give us anyone.

3. A Championship club isn't going to loan us one of their best players unless we either give them shit loads as a fee or obligate ourselves to buy them for shit loads.

Plus, we don't want to actually spend any money right now on someone that's just panic cover while Praet is hurt.

When you actually stop and think about all of that, it's not really the most ridiculous loan signing in the world. It's uninspiring, boring and a bit deflating but meh.

Absolutely no way is he an attacking midfielder as he mainly sits in front of the back four and breaks play up, Chalobah is not very good with the ball at all and can't pass very well, every other seems like he concedes possession and he always gets caught on the ball to the frustration of most Watford fans.

I don't agree with this, everything you describe would be true if Praet weren't injured. However he is and therefore Tielemans and Maddison (whom has had a catalogue of injuries in the last year) now have to play every game until April at the earliest. What happens if one gets injured, you honestly think we can put Chalobah in there? Fine as 3rd choice DCM but if he is having to slot in for Tielemans or Maddison then I think Ulloa's earthquake reading is in jeopardy.
