The thing that makes this even more ridiculous is that he's cup tied for the FA Cup, where we'd perhaps want to use him to rest Mendy if Wilf is out for a little while.

As others have said, unless the club think Hamza will one day be good enough (which they don't, because Rodgers said they'd rather sell him than loan him), there is no point in letting him go and play and bringing in a player that at best is just as good. At least with Benkovic and Bennett last January, the idea was he was going to get games at a good level to one day come back into the first team.

Amazing from the club. Just don't bother

He's a fresh face though!

Suppose that's all that matters then, when we are 9-0 down to lowly Fulham at least we might have a fresh faced Chalobah on the bench.

You’d think we’d learn from our mistakes from last season, we’re one injury away from Chalobah being needed so why not look for a better option. I don’t understand how you can enquire about Eriksen and Odegaard and then settle on a player who isn’t liked by his second tier fans.

I saw Ntcham from Celtic was being considered by Marseille, surprised we haven’t gone for him

Rodgers will use him as cover for Youri, so we could be seeing a Mendy Chalobah double pivot if Youri gets injured/needs resting.

Hang on, can we even name him in the EL squad? We couldn't name Gray or Slimani due to only being able to name 23 players. Hahahahahaa this is obscene.

If Hamza goes they can name 22 (17 foreign + 4 association + Barnes). Add Thomas from the B List and that makes 23. So two would still have to miss out.

Would think that's Morgan and Praet given their injuries - Praet will miss everything up to the quarter-finals if we were to get there, they could perhaps still register him but then you're looking at not registering probably one of Chalobah, Jakupovic or Amartey

Sure it's been said in this thread already (CBA to look), but last I remember of him was that belter he got for Watford against us that ended our run, was sat right behind that.  He'd be decent cover and seems a reasonable squad player.

I imagine we can name him in place of Choudhury, or Dewsbury-Hall

edit: or not, forgot about club grown rules

We'll deregister Hamza

Nope because Choudhury or KDH take a 'free' space in the sense that they take one of the four club-trained spaces in the squad.

We'd be better off taking Schlupp for 6 months (ignore my username, I'm not Jeff)

He'll just be coming to sit on the bench just in case like Hamza has been. Hamza get's game time, we get someone who is experienced and competent if the worst was to happen. People need to relax. We aren't going to get a Kante to be 3rd choice.

Then why did Rodgers say publicly at the start of the month they didn't want to loan him and would rather they got rid permanently. His opinion has not changed in 3 weeks that suddenly he might have a long-term future here, unless he's bluffing again

Doesn’t look like it will happen as the Newcastle lad doesn’t want to come here .

Oh no what a shame...

Things change. No body wants him permanently so we've come up with a temporary solution until the end of the season and then they'll reassess. It's a pretty minor deal for everyone to get so worked up about. It's just a temporary plug in case the worst was to happen (which it probably won't). I think the more disappointing thing is our failure to find temporary cover for Praet than not liking a player who will be back up to the back up in defensive midfield.

I am a Watford fan in peace, Leicester are a bit of second club to me because quite a few years ago now I was the academy and then studieD at DMU. I just wondered what your thoughts are on Chalobah? I was just trying to make sense of the transfer really. It seems very unusual to me he will literally offer yous nothing. He has looked bang average in the championship this season and the vast majority of Watford fans probably wouldn't mind seeing him leave in all honesty and would probably be happy if we managed to get a replacement in. What I find strange is Choudhury is better than him.
