I cannot believe this is who we’re getting in today as cover for Praet and to challenge for an attacking mid position. I seriously don’t get it. What are we playing at?? It doesn’t add up.

I think they’re actually quite similar players. For a start apparently Chalobah turned down Juventus to sign for us...

 

Juventus weren’t interested in Chalobah but apparently he’s still turned them down...

I'm underwhelmed but given we lack physicality in midfield without Ndidi it makes sense. Tielemans and Mendy are easily overran because they're like scrum halves and just don't have the ability to cover the ground. The first and third goals we conceded yesterday where a perfect example of it. Choudhury isn't disciplined enough either, so if we Chalobah is short term loan and is a temporary fix then I'm fine with it.

 

Bennet was a disaster because his lack of all round lack of ability but especially his lack of pace - what we need from Chalobah is some defensive and physical ability. Which tbf he has.

There's a very real possibility that Chalobah has to play games for us, Choudhury started a lot of EL group games and Ndidi hasn't stayed fit for more than a couple of months at a time for over a year now.

As a lot of people have already said, this is Ryan Bennet/Benkovic situation all over again, except this time its Chalobah/Choudhury!

 

I bet Tielemans and Maddison get injured.

I bet we go into the last games of the season, with a midfield of Chalobah and Mendy

I bet we need to win our last game to get into the champions league!

I bet we lose

The thing is Bennett was part of a very good defence for Wolves that finished 7th the season before. Chalobah last had a good season for Watford when Bruce Jenner still had a chopper.

I'm not going to back and read 20 odd pages of melodrama, but it is massively underwhelming but an adequate squad player who will likely not get much game time even if he were to sign.

Also remember listening to an interview with him for Golazzo when he was at Napoli and being impressed with how he came across. Transpires he only played 5 games there :ph34r:.

To be honest, after Sunday’s performance I think our CL chances will be probably long gone by then!

Most likely he would be here to take hamza’s place as 3rd choice dm, though with our players picking up injuries left right and centre he will probably be starting before long

We have such a bipolar recruitment strategy.

How can we go from really well thought out genius transfers like Fofana and Castagne to shite like this and Ryan Bennett.

It's just sad, anyone can see Chalobah isn't good enough for us.
