It's artificial excitement though really isn't it. Narrow tracks with walls everywhere, little natural overtaking, all just crashes and mistakes and reliant on DRS zones for over takes. 

 

It's exactly the sort of false spectacle the likes of Jacques Villeneuve have bemoaned.

Yes, probably. The new car next year is meant to promote better racing and overtaking isn’t it, so hopefully circuits like Barcelona come to life a bit more and there’s less need for high speed street circuits like this (Baku and Monaco non-permitting, they’re excellent).
