well that was chaos, I think to avoid any communication issues, and that's what I think happened with the collision, race control should dictate the corner where the place is given back if they order them to do so

Agreed, that was horrendous. Not sure why Lewis didn’t just take him. He must have been blind sighted somewhat. Leave the decision to the stewards in future if you can’t take better control than that.

he may well have thought it was another VSC? He clearly wasn't told by his team

Possibly.  They've not highlighted the fact that Max made a turn to the left just before contact.  You can see it on the onboard camera.

There was plenty of room, Lewis also slowed down and could have gone past him earlier. The problem was that he didn’t want to go past  verstappen  just before a drs detection zone which would have given verstappen the advantage.
