Not having to listen to the Stringer show has been like a breath of fresh air. These social media morons need to leave the lad alone. He's doing a solid job and will continue to get better at it.

If you’re reading this Owynn don’t be disheartened as I am sure most of us appreciate what you do.  Yes you’ll make mistakes along the way and you’ll learn from them.  Good luck and keep doing what you enjoy 🦊

I just do what I do everywhere - have multiple profiles for different reasons...  This online profile I use for sport and news, so it's twitter profile reflects that and nothing more.  (Not really used its facebook account for a while though.)

Manchester City: Sky Blues flock to manager claim

Manchester City: Sky Blues flock to manager claim -Manchester City News

Flocking to Twitter, many Manchester City supporters have erupted over some managerial news out of Eastlands involving Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers.

Since Pep Guardiola took over in the summer of 2016, the Sky Blues have gone on to enjoy an unprecedented amount of success – winning three Premier League titles, four Carabao Cups, two Community Shields and an FA Cup (Transfermarkt).

City are also the only team since Sir Alex Ferguson’s Man United to retain a Premier League title after winning it the season prior, with Guardiola also guiding them to their first ever Champions League final last year.

The Spaniard has done a remarkable job since succeeding Manuel Pellegrini but, with his contract set to expire in 2023, there have been murmurs over who could replace him.

According to Sunday Times reporter Jonathan Northcroft, speaking on The Transfer Window Podcast, City an sporting director Txiki Begiristain have one eye on Foxes boss Rodgers if Guardiola opts to leave Manchester.

“Manchester City have been working on Brendan Rodgers for years. He’s been on their list for years,” he explained (as transcribed by Sports Illustrated).

“He (Rodgers) knows that they like him, they let him know that they like him on the basis that if we ever come to change Pep Guardiola, or when Pep leaves, we’d be interested in you.”

Flocking to this managerial update, many City fans aren’t too pleased with the prospect of Rodgers as Guardiola’s heir – potentially taking into account the Northern Irishman’s far inferior points per game record (1.83) when compared to their manager (2.36).

His lack of pedigree when it comes to major silverware next to Guardiola may also be a factor.

While appointing any new boss will always arguably be a step down from Guardiola, it’s safe to these Sky Blues don’t want the 48-year-old in particular.

Really shite that he gets a lot of stick online.

At a push I'd suggest with having such a polarising figure in Stringer leading the usual line up, which Owynn has modelled his style on, there will always be people who will go at them. Along with how crap social media is in general

That’s my only qualm that he tries to hard to be like Stringer. But that’s who he’s learnt from so it’s going to be like that.

So you're defending one whilst slagging off the other. Only thing you've missed is a #bekind and you'd complete the parody.

I know he's highly rated, but to sneer at the thought of Rodgers but claim that Potter would be some sort of coup is a bit of a stretch to say the least...

That's where they lost me.

WHAT??? You do realise Rodgers is one of our best managers ever, deserves more respect.

He's definitely up there, I don't see why that qualifies him as one of the best managers in the world though.

Yeah, typical shite football fan logic.

Incidentally, when we do eventually part way with Rodgers, I quite fancy Potter for us.

No contradiction here. One has an ego so large he can hardly get into the studio. The other is a young guy learning his trade who is regularly belittled by the very guy he he is supposed to be learning from. Not having to hear the air guitar comment and here Owen's entire list of middle named repeated ad nauseam is enough to breathe some fresh air into this show. Quite apart from not having to listen to Stringer's endless egotistical prattle. I take it from your churlish response to my post that you are looking forward to Stringer's return. That minority point of view is your prerogative. Thankfully Mr. Pearson didn't suffer fools so easily.

Know them both do you?

I do and they're both great people. Others on here who know them will back me up on here.

Since you clearly have the inside track, any idea why our players still don't do interviews with one of your pals?

Yes thanks and there's always two sides to a story. Pretty sure they do do interviews with him now - have done since the start of the season.

I’ll back you up RE Stringer. As I’ve mentioned in posts on here a few times. A good man with a good heart.

I’m also yet to come across any full grown adult that hasn’t made some sort of mistake in their life.

That's great news as it's important for our chief local radio reporter to be allowed to interview our players. Found it quite refreshing to hear Owen interviewing Harvey Barnes recently and look forward to Stringer's interviews with the players on his return. I'm sure he is a good bloke. His commitment to charitable causes and passion for the club are great recommendations. However, I still find it refreshing to listen to the current team in his absence.

wait till brighton lose 2 or 3 in a row, and people will soon change their mind on potter.

Nice when you can make up stuff.
