If Spurs are getting an invite, we should too. Obviously I strongly oppose the whole idea, but Spurs are a ****ing joke. What have they done to deserve the tag of super?! They haven’t won naff all since the 80s. It’s a joke. The whole thing is a joke. I’m going to bed. 
 

We got to an Fa Cup Final on the day football died.

This has got to be the straw that breaks the camel's back for the supporter base of these teams.

Fans are going to start returning soon, and the actual fans of these disgusting, tinpot leeches seem to view this as irredeemable. It's time to act with their feet if they really have any backbone.

 

I seriously hope they decide to lend their support to other teams in their local area, to join in with the inevitable punishment our contingent will receive for the sheer audacity of doing this, midway through a f**king season of all times. Manchester already has two ready-made in Salford and FC United. The latter of whom exist because they saw this writing on the wall a full decade ago now.

I've seriously just had one of our club's biggest acheivements, ever, overshadowed by this disgraceful announcement. I should be overjoyed right now but I'm sat here seething.

It won't happen. The whole thing is a smokescreen for champions league reforms. 3 of Europes biggest clubs have already said no, uefa and fifa say no, all the football associations across Europe say no and the fans say no. The only people wanting this are the greedy owners and they know it won't get accepted but they are using it as a bargaining tool to force uefa into champions league reforms which still makes the "big clubs" richer and makes the champions league a closed shop, meaning the party poopers like us can't qualify. Either way, European super league or the proposed Champions league reforms, football will die if either get pushed through.

It seems to have gone too far to be just a smoke-screen, though.

 

When the first talks of it publicly came about in December/January (?) no club tweeted their official stance or that they've joined a new break-away Super League. They've all done that in unison tonight...

But literally everyone is against it. Fifa, uefa, all the European football associations and governments. Literally nobody wants it. So how could it ever be accepted?

Things are going to get messy at any game with these clubs involved now once fans return.

There will be protests, confrontations from rival fans, pitch invasions, you name it.

Thing is, those fans won't even deserve the bile - they're the ones truly getting shafted by this, having the clubs they support dragged away from their circle of influence.

It's going to expose some pretty ugly roots.

Because if the premier league loses those teams it will lose a lot of money and could go bankrupt

I'm actually pleased to see fans of these clubs take to social media, and make it very clear that they will no longer renew their season tickets, or no longer buy their merchandise.

 

They are ashamed of their clubs, and so they should be.

I'd be ashamed of us if we ever entertained joining this proposed elitist competition, assuming that little ol' Leicester would ever be invited, which we wouldn't, not enough CL pedigree or revenue apparently.

 

This is a very sad, but divisive day for the sport, with the domestic competition at the highest level shaken to the very core but clubs who have seen dollar signs rather than thinking of the fans.

 

On the flip side, the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich have affirmed they are not joining this Super League, and Paris Saint Germain have not committed to it.

 

Good on them, and looking forward to playing them in the Champions League next season after our money-obsessed Big 6 are ejected from the Premier League. I'll enjoy that moment.

Liverpool fans seem quite happy about it on their forum lol

Because they don't need any of their consent to do it?

 

If fifa, uefa don't accept it all that means is these teams play in the super league, and no where else.

 

They are then free to negotiate with whoever they want regarding tv deals etc where all the money goes to those teams.  

 

They don't give two shits about fans.

Yes but fifa/uefa can ban players from playing at international level and can ban teams from ever returning to their domestic leagues. Something will have to give here. I can't imagine the players will be overly happy with this either, but of course they may just see the pound signs and go along with it

Because if the teams are serious about it the Premier League will cave so they can keep their biggest sources of revenue because the Premier League, just like the Superleague, is all about capitalism.

But they are screwed either way. If the teams leave to form a esl then how would they still compete on the epl?
