Plenty of the Man Utd fans now trying to create a sense of injustice in their protestations that got their fixtures delayed/moved, like they were acting for the good of football

Pisses me right off, all the banners were about Glazers Out, not some altruistic higher cause.

Case in point

What did they expect would happen? They cannot play after the last round.

Just reading your last post again and I'm not sure what you meant. Surely, if Liverpool are their biggest historical rival, then you'd expect them to want to be as strong as possible for that match, wouldn't you?

You know, sometimes I just do not make sense. Even to myself re-reading that! :D

He said in his presser that people might be upset if he fields a weakened team "...in one. Maybe two games"

I read into that, that if it's one game it'll be us, if it's two it'll be Villa and Liverpool.  I guess we'll have a better idea on Sunday when the team is announced.

Either way, I expect it will be a tough game at OT.  Either a strong Utd line up, or a bunch of fringe players busting a gut to make the Europa League final.

To be honest, Man U have enough players to field two strong teams... so with mixing they will end up fielding three competitive sides in all games

No way are they going to play a weaken side against Liverpool.

Maybe if it was a Manager who didn't understand meaning they would, but having played in them OGS knows how much is means.

I think he'll put out a weakened side vs Liverpool and they'll be beaten, he'll have a ready made excuse then. He's an odious little bell sniffer.

Any Man U fan would love to hurt Liverpool’s chances of CL, but you are right, OGS is unpredictable. I feel we can beat Man U regardless anyway, we made mugs out of them in the QF and should have beaten them earlier in the season

Logic says he will rest playets v Villa, since they played Thursday.

Close to.full.strength v us. Scratch team v Liverpool (on the basis this fixture was enforced on him and can't  have been planned for) then back to normal at the weekend.

I just hope they go full strength against Villa. If he does then I will not be fussed who he plays against us as his preferred team will be leggy from Sunday and if he plays his second string side and they turn us over we can have no excuses.

Regardless of which side Utd put out, I'll still feel the same. We are highly capable of both smashing or being smashed by either their 1st or 2nd 11.

They have plenty of fringe players capable of stepping up, it'll hardly be Accrington Stanley.

Surely further trouble from their own fans must be in the back of their minds as well, so the quicker they get points in the bag the better for them.

That suggests strong vs Villa away as that shouldn't be disrupted to get the points that should get them top 4, which then leaves a decision which game to play the second string.

The fact we play two days after Villa suggests he has to rotate against us if they do go strong in that game.

If they beat us and lose every other game, they're virtually guaranteed to finish 2nd.

I can see it now, we lose to them and Liverpool beat them and we have to win one of Chelsea or Spurs games.

If Man Utd had to rotate against us or Liverpool why do people feel he'll put out his weakest side against us and not his biggest historical rival? We're also the nearest rival in the league.

Timing

Much easier to play the first XI Thu-Sun-Thu

than Thu-Sun-Tue or Thu-Tue-Thu

NB. I am biased in his team selections though :scarf:

Its not so clear cut. They went strong yesterday v Roma (Which was bizarre) they may field a weakened side v Villa and go strong as possible v us and Pool. This also makes little sense, as you want to go strong where you are most likely to win points, i.e.; Villa.

What happens in our game is largely moot, and Ole is a Red, so he knows the merit is both beating Pool and keeping them outside the CL places. So who knows?

Don't think it was bizarre at all, they should coast top four and the tie wasn't done.

The Europa Cup is their focus and if OGS had rested 7/8 first team players and Man Utd found themselves 2-0 down at H/T then there is a bit of panic. When it's your only chance of silverware with top four as good as done then best to pick a strong side and re-evaluate as the game went on.

For context imagine if we were a clear 2nd and we found ourselves 2-0 away at Roma at H/T and the likes of Amartey, Fuchs, Mendy, Choudhury, Tavares, etc on the pitch.

I wouldn't have gone full strength. That's just overly cautious. Needs must as well you keep the rest of the usual lot on the bench.

Surely it will be a weakened team against us as we are the middle game. Don't see why they wouldn't go close to full strength for Villa and Liverpool with a 90% team change for us. Here's hoping anyway!

It may be that Ole sees the  Villa  game as the middle game, go strong v us to seize 2nd place and hope for the best v Pool, but it will irk the supporters.

Looking at Red Cafe, there fans think they will play very strong sides against Villa(to secure CL) and Liverpool, and play a very weakened side against us, I’ll take that.
