Injuries throughout the season is what caused the job not to be done. It's not an excuse though as every team had injuries (us more than most). It's not being able to cope with injuries that cost us and that sadly means that we didn't deserve a champions league place. We are a team building and improving all the time, next season we will be in a better position to go the distance and I would back us to do so.

I believe it is a mentality problem. Having won the F A Cup, it  is difficult to re-motivate themselves. I notice this in other sports.

,

We have had a great season, and I see no value in digging over old ground. Be satisfied.

4 points from 15 when other teams had been in the ascendancy towards the backend of the season.

yeah, hasn't liverpool now won like 6 in a row? really didn't need that happening right near the end.

Just wanted to let off my thoughts.

In general, i see a lot of folk looking for one "perfect" issue to blame. To me this is more complex. I'll list off my reasoning behind said point. Our biggest issues are:

In game management. Rodgers is very very good tactically but sometimes his in game management and decision making regarding certain players like perez and praet isn't explainable. This manifested itself with almost all the subs today tbh.

Mentality.  Some of our players heads go down when something doesn't go away. Etc.

Softness. We really lack a hard head out there.

Injuries. Way way too many injuries at the club. Can't be accounted for..

Self belief. I believe players like vardy believed we could win, but some certainly don't sometimes.

Fan support. Not going to lie, this played a role. The king power was way too quiet today. Wembley, for example, was not.

Corners. Both offensively and defensively they're our biggest weakness. It's an absolute disgrace to give away what we did and waste what we did.

Lack of signings. This isn't the fault of top but we have a very very very depth deprived squad. Our first 11 can beat any but we have no depth. Need to invest a lot seriously. Look at who Tottenham brought on vs us...

I could continue.

Thoughts?

Not just today but the season. Injuries, stubbornness, terrible individual errors, lack of leadership. It’s not one thing, just a string of them.

Honestly, I think a long hard season just caught up on everyone.

The injuries have played a huge part especially the loss of Barnes with his pace and directness.

You could question some decisions from Brendan but that's being picky.

Would I have taken an FA Cup win and 5th at the start of the season, I certainly would.

So let's enjoy the Summer and come back stronger in August.

Injuries and players off their game for the last 10 or so games. To win the Cup and finish 5th is almost a miracle considering how poor some players have been and that's down to the horrible season and threadbare squad.

Look it's simple. I put on the wrong pants. My misses put my lucky pants in the wash without asking, I tried sitting in them wet for 75 minutes but she kept nagging me that I looked as if I'd wet myself and her parents were dropping over so I changed them. Alright! Now you know.

Since 2016 I have got sick of repeating to doubters and spiters that we won the league over 38 games because we were the best.

Now we are having to suck up the spite because we have to accept that this team and squad are 5th best over 38 games.

A couple of players who are experienced in big game management might just take us over the line. Providing, of course that the quality players we already have don't jump ship to get CL football next season.

Rodgers end of season record in the prem: Swansea W2D2L5, Liverpool W3D2L4 & now us for 2 seasons!  I just think as long as he is here we will have to get use to this!  I don't think his teams get stronger as he alluded to, the evidence suggest otherwise.

Awful luck with injuries

Nerves

Poor home support

Surprisingly bad game management for a side that are usually good at seeing out games.

Easy to say in hindsight but the Mendy sub was the wrong one. Lose Ndidi in midfield. Big Wes could've led us, or Amartey filled in. Neither ideal, granted.

No wants to hear it , but... it’s Brendan Rodgers is the answer.  Yes the injuries happened today but there was enough available to patch the team up to get us over the line .  We were winning 2-1.  Threw it away .

Where you’re probably right... Brendan Rodgers is also the reason we have finished 5th winning the FA Cup along the way.

It wasnt about today, it was the losses to Fulham, West Ham, Newcastle etc. Move on.

Whilst I understand what you’re saying it absolutely was.

Bottom line is top 4 should have been confirmed weeks ago but the games you’ve listed is the reason why.

It wasn’t in our hands today but scores elsewhere made it in our hands and were were in the Top 4 in our own right, we were comfortable, then we choked and let Tottenham back in.

The questions and post mortem need to question why we didn’t make too 4 comfortably and they’ll point towards the games you’ve listen but it literally about today, you cannot get away from that.

I think achieving of gaining the FA cup affected players minds to be relax and cause finishing the PL  earlier than the last game.

They did not fight as much as Spurs.

In addition to our weakness  of attacking transition , we are enormously poor and weak as a whole defense works.

2nd and 3rd goals are defineltely shows this lack of concentration in this game  .

Just for this game ,  Fuchs should have been in the game and Fofana or Çağs could have been played as Midfield Anchor  to prevent giving empty space to Spurs Bale .

It’s easy to say that it wasn’t Tuesday and today that cost us, but it quite literally was.

Chelsea was a 6-pointer and despite all that, we were 20 mins away from the Champions League. We ****ed it.

But when you're 2-1 up with less than 20 to play in the final game of the season.we had the chance to wipe away the Fulhams, West Hams etc. Piss poor game management all round I am sorry to say.

Unfortunately, where we are right now, we don’t have enough to see tough moments out and/or just go all out after a team.

Even when we were 1-0 up and then 2-1 up, it never felt like Spurs were really threatening. But we couldn’t turn the screw. I think we’re too nice and too slow.

Fofana stays on, we win the game. Having Ndidi have to go to CB and bringing Mendy on just completly lose the control of the game

We were winning or drawing with Mendy on for 50 minutes....

but in terms of control of the football match, it was lost when Fofana went off imo
