And the reason we are still a team that is just missing out is because or net spend is 20m.

Our club has only spent money from player sales in the past few years.

All the other clubs above us and below us have had their chairman to fund them out their pocket.

If we want to take that next step this needs to happen.

If it pays off they would receive there money back in a season or 2 anyway its time to spend

Owners aren't allowed to fund teams out of their own pockets anymore. The teams above us spend more because they generate more income. They also are all massively in debt. I'm more that comfortable with the way our owners do things. Sustainable and successful!

We started without our best centre back because he’s injured. Then our best remaining centre back had to go off injured relatively early on. That’ll do it.

I agree.  And then our best midfielder had to play as a centre back so we were short in midfield.

i dont know if its been said already within this thread, but losing 9 home games this season is the cause for us not getting UCL football,

plain and simple, we didnt bottle it, imo we was lucky to still be in with a chance come the end of the season imo,

tbf ive been saying it for a good month or 2 that the home form would ruin our chances and it did,

but cant grumble, 5th and the FA Cup with Europa league too(which imo atm is our standard, even tho wed all loved UCL)

Everton is dodgy and will probably fall short of FFP (once it comes back) before long and probably would have a while ago if they had qualified for Europe. The rest of them though I don't see it. With the exception of West Ham and Wolves they all generate a lot more income than us and none of them spend at PSG or Barcelona levels. Plus you are acting like we don't spend a penny, we tend to spend quite a bit every season. If we want to spend more we will need to generate more income and the shirt sponsorship is a step in the right direction. Gone are the days when an owner can walk in and suddenly start competing at the top like what happened at Man City and Chelsea.

Easy to spend other people's money.

I find it hard to believe that Duty Free Shops have done very well over the last year or so. Top and Co have been very good to us through some very difficult times for their family business.

Yes it is our second most successful season, so don't complain too much, we were in it until the 76th minute of the final day. We would have loved that for most of my years as a season ticket holder.

Evans, Fofana, Justin, Barnes all out. Barnes and Justin were arguably our best players in the 1st half of the season, both long term absentees. It's a miracle Kelechi scored so many to keep us in the hunt. Evans missing the Newcastle Chelsea and today was massive, and once again the fixture list was not kind with us ending with really tough games. The fans being loud enough or Rodgers (why is he always blamed) is not a reason.

Always ifs and buts but we have finished in the top 5 for the last 2 years and this has to be our 2nd most successful season ever unless someone can recall when we finished 2nd in the old first division. WE have won the FA Cup something i never dreamed of and are just falling short of finishing in the top 4 against probably 4 of the top 10 teams in Europe. If they were going to set up a European super based on merit we would be in it. That is how far we have come and recent trophies shows it is no fluke. We lost most of last seasons back 4 for large chunks of the season Chilwell gone and Evans and Cags missing games along with Riccy P who is not fully fit. Youri wins POTS  for a fantastic season but also he has nobody to challenge him due to the injuries. We  have been pushed to the limits and have fallen short due to being just a few players short. If the manager can add some of the names we are linked with to the squad we can progress and improve. You have Chelsea one of the richest clubs in the world getting all excited by pipping little old Leicester for 4th after losing a cup final to us. The club has reached heights i have never dreamed of and the clubs owners show no signs of keeping pushing on, so tonight think what could have been but also be glad what has been Leicester City FA Cup Winners 2021

Where do I start lol!

So many players out of form due to IMO injury. One of the best RBs in Riccardo, Maddison to name but two. With JJ, Evans and Fofana going off injured in addition to Barnes, who has been the biggest miss of the lot all led us to run out of steam.

We deserved better but I`d take 5th again (4 points better than last season) and the improvement of the FA Cup win.

We go again next season.

You also need to look at who Spurs were able to bring on compared to us.

We obviously have areas we need to improve, and squad depth has been something that has hamstrung us at the sharp end of ths season and last, but think about this - If Sergio Aguero, one of the greatest goal scorers in Premier League history, had simply taken his penalty against Chelsea properly, we would have made it. That's how fine the margin between success and failure was.

Who is suggesting im saying they haven't been good to us.

Football is a business and they as the chairman of the club are business men.

Investing in players to improve the clubs chances of securing the best possible position in the premier league brings more long term revenue.

If they invested around 120m just to get some key additions in the squad they would get that money back regardless after 1 season through revenue.

Depends what they want thou

Yep you can’t blame it all on today, but Harvey Barnes would’ve eaten Sanchez alive today.

Not having Evans. Not having Justin to come in for Fofana. Praet for some reason not being available for selection.

Maddison et al being half the players we know they can be.

Schemichel having a very very rare off day.

Just not to be today.

That’s why I said they have a better squad than ours because we don’t enough depth within ours

My point is though that they may not have a spare £120 million for what is obviously a gamble, not a sure thing, as any number of clubs show.

Duty Free must be losing money hand over fist, and likely to be so for some time yet in largely unvaccinated SE Asia.

Yet more injuries and very little depth in the squad.

Yep, Depth of quality in our squad when injuries or loss of form occur.

Some midfield and attacking creativity needs to arrive in the summer

120m is not a gamble in terms of the premier league...

They make that money back in 2 seasons in sponsorship deals and TV payments.

If they sold a key player they get their money back.

The premier league is a constant income if more was spent they will receive more in the long run it nothing like relying on duty free.

AS LONG AS THEY DONT SIGN ANY MORE AYOZE PEREZ'S

Squad depth 100%
We have been unfortunate with injuries this year, and for a squad like ours that has a huge outcome on how high we can finish. Look at the teams we’ve played in the last 2 league matches and the subs they’ve been able to bring on, whilst we are playing with 1 recognised centre back, and have 1 attacking option on the bench.

For “smaller” clubs like us we have to be lucky with injuries to greatly over-succeed. Look at the premier league winning season, or Wolves when they first got promoted.

I have no doubt that if just 1 of Evans, Justin, Fofana or Barnes aren’t injured for the last few games, we make the points to get into the top 4.

We just need to keep doing what we are doing, add more squad depth and pick off the teams from the “big 6” who fail, and there will always be one or two a season that fail. We just have to make sure we are top of the list to take advantage.

Maybe it’s the new training ground... this season we seemed to get more points per game at the old place !!😉
