RIP Tough as old boots and a good captain.

Remember him as a captain of a great team. One of the reasons I started to support City as a youngster and still do even though I don’t live in Leicester.RIP Colin

Saw him play for first three years I supported the City. TBH, I don’t have too many recollections of him as he wasn’t one for grabbing the limelight. Just an old fashioned, no nonsense player who went about his business with no histrionics.

Old school professional player, gave his all for the club, thank you Mr Appleton and RIP.

Another Boyhood Leicester hero, as gone to the Changing Room in the sky...

Top captain, top player....unfortunately the Ice kings found their Melting point...

O M G . How sad, as another one of my players from the past era has been lost to us. Colin was left half and skipper of a great Leicester side. He was a really solid player, and a loyal servant of the club.

I will always hold the cherished memories of these players, close in my heart.

R I P Colin.

Remember an old thread on here where you had to put together an all time Leicester City XI. Fuchs was relatively fresh to us at the time so I delved through the history section in here for a LB and by far Appleton stood out. Most amount of appearances at LB for us and captain of what is a historical team for us.

Way ahead of my time. Mentioned him to my grandad once and he seemed to think he was alright ... but he still thinks Kasper is suspect lol

Grew up with stories of the early 60's team and Colin Appleton was always fondly remembered. RIP to a true Leicester legend, the first man to lift a cup for Leicester City.

He was in the starting line up when I made my Filbert Street debut (Boxing Day 1965, beat Fulham 5-0). I was barely a nipper and can't remember the game or Colin. But I was hooked for life.

Goodbye to another of the Ice Kings. RIP.

Sad news indeed. He leaves fond memories for thousands of us older City fans, some like me now scattered around the world.

I saw him lift the League Cup at Filbert Street, but the mental image that comes to mind first is a rare goal that he scored with a long-range shot that seemed to me, as a young boy on the popular side, to be about on the halfway line.

RIP Colin ("Determined Skipper" - the caption underneath a photo of him from the Sports Mercury that I put in my City scrapbook)

Sad news indeed.  Not old enough to see him play but my dad thought the world of him and considered him one of the best players ever to play for Leicester.

Never played for England but played for the football league i believe which was a high honour in the 60's.

Sadly the image I constantly have is of him at an empty Wembley being presented with the FA Cup before we played, that's how much we were fancied to win it.
