On the one had I am surprised Burnley don't follow our model and sell high (probably last summer or the summer before for 30/40 million) then use the fee to improve the team. For instance last summer we got Fofana and castagne plus a bit of change for Ben Chillwell. The summer before we got Tielemans, James Justin and Dennis Praet plus change for Harry Maguire. The summer before that we got Pereira, Soyuncu and James maddison for riyad mahrez.

Those signings have helped us evolve and improve and they have also increased in value to the club we got 190 million in transfer fees for those 3 key players re invested it and the 8 players we signed with that money are now worth depending on the market and injuries etc about 400 million.

But on the other hand I see Burnleys point of veiw as well one bad window for us (aka loose kante and sign musa, slimani etc) and we are midtable one bad window for them and it will be the championship so they have a lot more to lose.

They did.  That's what they were asking for him last year but they had no takers.  Priced him out of a move.

Still maintain he’s the best CB after VVD…. Victim of football snobbery, but he shits all over Stones and Mings.

Ruben Diaz...................

Not the best source but suggestion that Burnley have changed their position and would be willing to let Tarkowski leave this transfer window:

Tarkowski is an " off the shelf " quality player who really would make a difference to us. No risk , he does what it says on the tin ,sometimes you have to pay the price and get it done.

They just got worried that West Ham aren't interested in him anymore and that he will go for free next summer

Tarkowski and Edouard both on frees next Summer. Could be an exciting window.

Once again, James Tarkowski’s position at Burnley will be assessed, although the Lancashire club’s unwillingness to do business with Leicester — despite the player’s desire to move on and refusal to sign a new contract with now less than a year left on his current deal — would be a hindrance. Previously, Burnley have been demanding around £50 million for the 28-year-old.

I like him a lot. I just don't see why Burnley would sell him as they have much better odds of staying up with their best defender in the team, than not.

1 year to go on his contract but for the price we would be willing to pay i.e. £20m, he is worth more to Burnley for 12 months than £20m IMO.

In his shoes its almost certainly the only chance he has to get a last golden contract and salary to set him up for good.

It'll be interesting to see if he can put as much pressure on his club as possible. Vestergaard and Cags play in the same side of CB so I'd prefer Tarkowski preferably over him to play on the right.

I just can't see Burnley doing business with us. They're quite happy to have players who want out in their squad.

As a free agent next summer, he would likely command a better contract due to no fee being stumped up for him, but it is a risk as he would be an injury away from being without a contract too. I think he would jump to come here in this window but just can't see Burnley selling him unless we pay well over the odds.

I think they should cash in.

But a sticking point is that Brentford have a clause which means that they get 27% of the sale I think. Or 27% of the profit and he was bought for about 3mil

My colleague who's a Burnley fan reckons they'll sell for 25-30mil

Which I would be surprised we would pay with only 1 year left on his contract.

He is just about worth that, but I just don't think we have the budget to spend that much on a CB and get a RW too

Surely we can offer Burnley a squad player they might want to cut the fee and get some wages off the books?   Hamza springs to mind, maybe Mendy?   Hamza seems to me the kind of player that would be instant Viagra for someone like Dyche.

They wanted Albrighton but can't see Rodgers letting him leave when he's just signed a new deal. He is a good squad player and a great player to have in the dressing room.
